Hey guys, thought id post a vid of me hitting 3 serves (short vid :p)

1st ones a flat serve my normal 1st serve
next 2 serves are my 2nd serves.

Im getting a few problems with my 2nd serve being hit about a foot long when ever i make the slightest mistime and was wondering if anyone could see anything wrong with it?

Any other comments appreciated :)

Excellent motion...
At your service level, the only thought maybe to swing your racket FASTER for the second serve, and when you hit it center, the ball goes shorter and jumps higher. If you keep the same toss location. I know some will find this advice weird, but it's sound. A faster swing gives more topspin on the second serve, so the ball arcs more, moves slower, and chances of a "carry" is lessenned.
I think most top servers swing at least 20% faster for second serves than they do for first flat serves. A slow second serve swing promotes too many variables for ball carry and mishits.

Cheers for the input LeeD. I had practice last night and told myself to swing faster on the 2nd serve. There were a few double faults but this is to be expected from trying soomething new but overall worked really well. Wasn't getting the normal depth but found overall was more accurate.

One comment, i must be doing pretty good :p

nice serve!

you need more shoulder turn to get more natural spin on your 2nd serve. this will help to keep that second serve in the court. right now, for your 2nd serve, your chest is partially open and facing the court at contact, and you seem to be arming the ball a bit to get the spin.

If you start with a bit more shoulder turn, your contact will be when you are still sidewards. And you will get more of your body into the second serve rather than just the arm.

Maybe its just the camera angle but it seems your throwing ur body sideways or upwards. Try to add some body movement to your serve. Throw your body a bit more into the court. Not too much or your serves may fly LONG. Just throw your body upwards when you hit, and then fall forwards on the followthrough. Try it out.

Lil bit yea :) this was at the end of a 5 hour training session, was pretty tired so leg were feeling lazy.

I think the camera is deceiving but i do get a lot of body into my serve and always land infront of the baseline.

You actually drive forward into the court pretty well with that first serve, but not so much for the next two. Our pal LeeD is right on in terms of your wanting to use that same motion and drive to "go after" that second serve. Even though you're trying to make more spin and less velocity to get the ball down in the service box, you need to use your full motion create that energy.
