Shame on ATP for not banning Kyrgios

I have never seen any sports organization on not taking action for the kind of sexist remarks made by Kyrgios on Donna vekic.

No ban and if kyrgios does anything wrong in the next 6 months, there will be just 28 days ban.

What a shame that current ATP authorities are bringing to the sport.

Someone needs to investigate ATPs functions, just the way it happened to FIFA.

ATP, you are just disgusting.

Kyrgios will be playing in Billie Jean King stadium, what a shame Billie Jean King fought for womens rights.

Yeah, Kyrgios revealed to the world that Donna Vekic might, at some point, have had sexual intercourse. He's a d-bag, yes, but you don't life ban players for being d-bags. All sports? lmfao.
And while we're on the topic, why is no one investigating Ryan Harrison for threatening violence against a fellow player?

Forget about life ban, there is no ban, its just 28 days ban only if he does a mistake again.
There is no bigger joke than this. How can ATP decide on 28 days for something that not happened yet. Is ATP saying, kyrgios can do whatever he wants and they will only ban for 28 days?

They let him off with a warning and a threat of a moderate ban if he repeats the offense.
They're obviously not going to ban him for 28 days if he smacks Rafa on the head with a racket.
Not sure what you're getting at?

It's quite evident what ATP is doing, forcing him to comply to their standards of conduct through the ban being implemented after even 1 offence.

It's enforcing good behaviour, although at the cost of what makes Kyrgios marketable to spectators

I agree, but 28 days doesnt yield any desired result.

Not a fan of the big mouth, but I thought the yellow card punishment was appropriate. I just hope he opens his mouth again at us open and the real ban takes place!!

If he times it wrong he could conceivably miss the AO given the late stage of the season

Basically if he stays on his toes until towards the end of the year, he pretty much traps himself the fact he needs to do it for the rest of the season so as not to miss the Open next year.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him take the quick hit post USO and take the month away

WTA is just as disgusting for letting Serena plays after she threatened a lines woman's life.

Double standard is not the way to go.

While we are at it, anyone caught doping should be banned for life too, not just temporary. That is fair and square. That is if ITF is so dead serious about fighting doping, but sadly they are not.

EDIT:
And please tell us why are ITF/ATP burying their heads in the sand when Ryan Harrison threatened to bury Thanasi Kokkinakis ??????[emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji88] [emoji88] [emoji88] [emoji88] [emoji88] [emoji88] [emoji88] [emoji88] [emoji88]

I think 6 months is a pretty long time for a loose mouth like his not to say anything foul.

So I wouldn't be surprised if he does indeed get himself banned. Of course when it does happen, he'll launch a tirade much like Tomic did and play the blame-game as to who was wrong in enforcing the good-behaviour policy.

First, he was already fined; this is sanction part 2 - if you're going to ban for what I believe is a first offence of this nature, then you're going to have to re-scale punishment for other offences - and that sounds like some tennis players will end up being stoned (with people like suresh being invited as "specially-privileged" spectators) - don't forget to take along your knitting needles, Madame Defarge

The problem is that he didn't just blurt it out an obscenity in the middle of a match, it was a deliberate stab at Wawrinka. He was fined, shamed and now on probation. The punishment fits the crime. If he had hit Wawrinka in addition or did a Joaquin-Russell Gladiator pre-battle stab then maybe a long suspension would have been warranted.

Because Harrison doesn't matter. Giving him retributions wouldn't be a story.

I am absolutely against the comments made by NK, but for the players to come on board and behave all sanctimonious is quite something. And who are these holy cows ?
Federer- who dropped F bombs and argued with the umpire during USO09, Nadal- whose time wasting and intimidatory tactics are a great "Example" , Djokovic- the MTO- Master of Time Outs ?
Sampras - who along with Agassi, showed school-boy level maturity during a Charity event, of all the places, and the worst of them all, Johnny Mac. Wow. This is like pot calling the kettle black.

The only legit person who has a right to comment is the subject of NK's remark and Wawrinka- since it was reference via his association with her. And ATP did its job as well. If the ATP should ban Kyrgios for this, then WTA should have imposed a life-ban on Serena for her "direct threat " to the linesperson.

The Tennis world has bigger and perhaps more murkier problems. This is just a school grade-4 misbehaviour. Lets keep it there and move on!

Quick question....do you have a girl friend/sister/mother.

How on earth you can equate these sexist remarks to something the players argue on line calls.

If someone comments on your GF....you would punch that person immediately.

If any employee of any company comments on a women like this...he will lose his job permanently.

What about what Gimelstob said about women? He didnt get a punishment in fact he got a promotion. And he did it during an interview and he violently threatened kournikova. What are your thoughts on that?

He should have been banned. I think Tennis Australia and Nike might have exerted undue influence.
I think sureshs should be banned. His tennis is hurtful to my eyes and it haunts me in my dreams, I hope one day to be cleansed of the horrors I have witnesssd

How dare you!

Here's my take:

Poobs has illustrated to to the unwashed masses how the game of tennis really should be played. There's the old tennis quote: "if it looks like you're trying hard, you're not doing it right." Well that's the case here: what we incorrectly interpret as sloth-like movement is actually the master exhibiting a silky smoothness which is the hallmark of any fully-rounded, perfectly developed game.

In short, the uber-Poober (like all true greats of the game) make it "look easy."

Notice his out-classed opponent flailing away like a man in total darknes, spraying shots all over the place.....while Poobs is a picture of composure.....total serenity in a robust, athletic package.

Wasn't that like two weeks ago or something? People forget Harrison exists 10 minutes after the match. Kyrgios on the other hand is a rising star that beat Fed and Nadal.

All this ban talk is really silly, he got fined and put on probation, that should be good enough. He may be a ********* (OK, he is) but atleast he has some fire in his belly, a big game and isn't lethargic against top players like most of the tour (oh and he doesn't take 40 seconds to serve).

Letting him know this kind of behaviour won't be tolerated is a must but forcing a promising young player off the tour for a prolonged period in a time when tennis is sorely in need of some young blood would be a wrong move IMO.

Like I said before, ATP took the requisite action. But banning him off the tour is too much. As to what Wawrinka should have done to Kyrgios is for him to decide. He did not even hear it when it was said.
This level of holier than thou attitude being displayed by the players is ridiculous. As if they all share the best of the vibes on and off court. Kyrgios was foolish to do it overtly and was rightly caught out.

This over-villanisation of Kyrgios is getting absurd. I'm surprised nobody has called the firing squat yet.
I grew tired of his act during his wimby match against Gasquet. Tanking the return game, the smart ass replies to chair umpire about changing his socks... He's just really obnoxious and think's he's some big cool tough guy or some ****.

and zagor. The suspension is probably what's needed for him to clean up his act. I also don't buy the idea that he's needed for the sport to do well. Plenty of other young guys are playing well and have actually won tournaments like Thiem or Goffin. Not to mention guys like Coric or Zverev. And honestly...If Kyrgios was banned for the US Open, would anyone have even noticed?

He's going to get a year long ban right after he makes it past the 2nd round of a grand slam.

What was weird to me were the comments from sports journalists saying Kyrgios didn't deserve to be reprimanded for 'trash talk' as it is a known tactic used by many athletes in the NFL and NBA to gain an edge against their opponents and that the ATP's decision to hand out a suspended fine was an indication of tennis' 'uppity' image.

SMH.

Don't like it? Go get him! Make him pay for what he has done!! Kill him!!!

It's over, he's been slapped with a fine and no suspension (imho) was warranted -- time to move on to the U.S. Open, speaking of which:

From the "Trainwreck/Cheap Laughs" suggestion box:

A Friday daytime session runs late with matches going the distance (women 3-setters, men 5-setters) and pushing the "Friday night session" matches back deep into the evening and allowing a good portion of the crowd to start their weekend off by getting 'lubricated' (read: short fuse).

Not to dissapoint, St. Nick after getting what he thinks is the short end of a call or whatever launches into his Nastase 2.0 act whereupon the crowd turns against him on a dime resulting in some cheap, raucous theater - an ugly/hillarious (take your pick) trainwreck from heaven.

Kevin Garnett of the NBA once said, "Happy mother's day, m*****f******" to all-star champ Tim Duncan, knowing his mother died of breast cancer.

Lets put this Kyrgios nonsense in perspective.
