I gotta go with Agassi (over Nadal) for this one..

Red Group: Federer
Gold Group: Agassi

Final: Federer beats Agassi, just like the US Open Final

About as interesting as it was going to be given the withdrawls. Fed vs Lube should be a great match and a big chance for Lube to reverse a couple of tight ones against His Swissness early in the season. Nadal vs Agassi the pick on the other side. Given the various ailments I expect wheelchairs ********* for the breaks between games, more trainers than at a School for Guide Dogs and a couple of upsets as a result ... and it's all live Asian time on TV ... I hope.

I'm not so sure. Agassi will have tough time with Nadal and Davydenko, IMHO.

Nadal is injured, davydenko is the only threat in the agassi group. Not much of a threat, but he could use this to break through, beating a 1 legged nadal, a 35 year old man, and gaudio shouldnt be too hard. Definitly the weaker side.

wow did they deliberatly give agassi the easier side to have a more popular final interms of federer agassi? or even nadal the easier side? i dunno,, looks it to me.

Federer and Nalbandian. Nadal and Agassi.

Those are my predictions for the top 4. Possibly a Nalbandian V Federer final. I think David will really take advantage of his opportunity, this could be his chance to really show us what he can do.

Nalbandian will never give Fed trouble again.

Again? Since Federer went Super Saiyan, Nalbandian hasn't been the huge threat he was early in Federer's career.

True, Nalbandian was arguably the favourite to win the Australian Open in 2004, the Quaterfinal against Federer was considered as possibly the tournament decider right there, with Federer going on to win in a very tight match indeed.

Nalbandian playing well has to be one of the few things that Federer feels slightly weary of, one of the best returns and so solid in all aspects. Safin's backhand, especially DTL in his AO semi this year played a big part in beating Federer and that is something that Nalbandian also has at his disposal.

This is a match that I am really looking forward to, I expect Nalbandain will go on to lose dismally in straight sets but hey, we got to have faith :)

I am reluctant to to make predictions at this stage. I will need to see at the least each player in a match. after all, Fed, Nadal, Agassi have not played for awhile and are recovering from injury. Ivan is also tired plus or injured and Gaudio, Coria, Davydenko and Nalbandian are not exactly in peak form. The only player in decent form is Ivan and the rest are either out of form or coming back from injury.

Although Ivan and Nalbandian have troubled Fed, Nalby more than Ivan as he holds a 5-3 h2h lead. However, its all about confidence in tennis and Nalby has suffered a couple of tough losses especially in Paris. And Ivan although has the game to beat Fed he lost all 3 meetings this year and they were tight. Some people might say that this suggests he might trouble him but i would disagree. I have played a guy a few times and we are both ranked LTA 6.1. I have won all 5 meetings and everytime he had chances. The fact is i still won and i Know that deep down even if i dont play well i can win despite his efforts. In some ways it is better if you play badly and lose to a difficult opponent that play great and lose a series of match like
Ivan. Losing hurts whether u play well or badly. So I don't see him going into the match with Fed with so much confidence. Its more likely to be Fed full of beans knowing that he can beat Ivan, has beaten him whilst not at his best and can again.

when are they gonna post the real match schedule? I am going to Shanghai on the 12th, and still haven't decided if I am going to watch a day of matches, based on if Fed is playing on the day I am in that city.

Lucky dude...You have the opportunity to be there during the tournament and you may not go based on one player? OK, I admit, he is a pretty good player!

hehehe.... it's just that there is a little bit of hassle going to the stadium due to my travel schedule.... and I figure anyone other than Roger wouldn't really worth the trouble (I can watch all the run-of-the-mill guys in Flushing every year)

Actually wouldn't you be more likely to see Federer in new york since he stays in the tourney for the whole two weeks, and less likely to see people like Nadal and Ljubicic who get knocked out of the USO?
