Dave M,
I've just switched to the NX-One (demoed it for a ridiculous reason and found I really enjoyed it) and am still coming to grips with the combination of weight, balance and swingweight. It isn't necessarily a heavy-weight racquet but I'm finding it hits a bloody heavy ball, moreso than other frames I've used of late such as the Volkl t10mp Gen2, Diablo MP, Head Microgel Radical MP. Looking at the specs in relation to other Dunlop/Slazenger products it seems to me as though the NX-One is closest to the Maxply McEnroe in terms of weight, balance and swingweight (11.3oz strung, 3pts HL, 325 swingweight), plays somewhat similarly (heavy shot, excels at net) but gives you more flex for comfort (64 vs 68 RDA).
Two questions for you:
1) My Slazenger came strung with Slazenger X-Tournament 16 which feels and plays quite like a poly (gives you that big 'crrrrrack' sound when you hit it hard and well). I've never seen Slazenger strings here in Australia and wondered if they exist in the UK or, as I suspect, are these just Dunlop strings re-packaged as Slazenger?
2) Have you hit with the Dunlop mfil-200 plus (the standard length, 97sq version) and, if so, what did you think compared to the NX-One? Specs look okay but seems like it mightn't be quite as solid.
Of course, the encouraging thing is that, as a serve-volley player (doubles only these days), if the NX-One performs well for me with a tired 16g poly it should really shine when freshly strung with natural gut or nat.gut hybrid. Plus, they're available for such a low price. $100-$150 Australian
