Spring Break Junior Academy in South Florida

Hi There -
We have spring break the last week of March, which coincides with the first week of the Miami Open. We were thinking about going to the Miami Open, but also thought about putting the kids in a half day of a tennis academy each morning for the week. The kids will be 11 and 12, and are good players - ranked in the Southern section. Was thinking about the usual ones (Evert, Rick Macci), but wanted to know people's suggestions/experiences? Thanks in advance!

Hi, we have been in the S. FL junior scene for years now and been to pretty much all of the academies. Macci recently moved his academy from a country club to a huge park in Boca Raton. He went from green clay to hard courts. Proworld is a nice academy, they took over Macci's former space at Boca Lago in Boca Raton. Macci is an amazing instructor for the age your kids are. I would highly suggest calling him, he usually answers the number for his academy. Arrange a session for your 2 kids. Macci will evaluate, allows you to video the session for future use, and he always offers quick fixes for issues on the forehands and serves.

Nick Saviano does a great job in the area. If you want a killer footwork guy, visit Brian Dabul. Email him at briandabulusa@gmail or call 786-630-9298.

At most of the academies its hit or miss the quality of kids your kids may hit with. But if you arrange a session with Macci or Saviano or Dabul you will get some value and a routine you can take home.

Thank you for your very helpful reply? I've seen Brian's videos online. Very impressive! Does he run an academy that the kids can hop into for a week?

Hi There again. Thank you again for the reply. I was looking at Rick Macci's and Proworld's websites, and based on where we are going to stay, those would be the best. Would you favor one over the other for a 5 day spring break, half day camp? Thank you again!
