I am in the month #4 of my quest to switch from 2HBH to 1HBH, and I need to decide whether or not the continue with 1HBH switch or just go back to 2HBH.
I switched because my pro said I may be smoother with 1HBH. My 2HBH follow throughs were inconsistent and made my stroke mechanical and abrupt. But it was a powerful stroke and fairly dependable. I also had a 1HBH slice which I used for defensive purposes when I got pulled wide.
My 1HBH (topspin) is very much work in-progress. I feel like my stroke is getting smoother, but I am having a hard time hitting it consistently. I am probably only hitting it successfully 50 to 75% of the time, and far worse if the ball is high and hard.
I can't hit it nearly as hard as my 2HBH without it sailing long and my elbows hurt when I hit 1HBH (probably some bad form I have somewhere).
How long should I continue with this experiment? Is my elbow trying to tell me something? I am just not sure what I should do...
