Strings/Stringing Questions (RDS001)

Hey,

Ive been an RDS001 MP user for almost a year now, I play college tennis, and hit very flat forehands. Ive been using the same string since Ive bought the racket, Yonex Tour Super 850's.

I really enjoy the crisp feel and playability of this string, however sometimes the tension drops too quickly for me(I hit very hard), and I find that it loses its crisp feeling, and I lose a fair amount of control. I was thinking of doing one of two things..either increase the tension by a couple of pounds, or try experimenting with other strings. I am leaning towards experimenting with other strings first, mainly because Ive been using the 850s for almost 10 months now, and would like to try something new. (Ive actually tried X-1 Biphase 17 in my racquet for a few weeks...did not like the feel of it compared to the 850s)

My question for everyone is..do you have any suggestions for strings? Possibly some stiffer/more consistent Multi's? Should I try co-polys?

My other question is, that I've decided to buy a stringing machine to string for myself...a Gamma X-2, and I was wondering if the two point mounting has any effect on the square shape of the frame? It should be fine, right?

Sorry for the long post, thanks in advance for any advice you have.

Ive decided on ordering a couple of packs of both Yonex 850s, w/ and w/o spin, as well as trying a poly for the first time.

Ive read alot about SPPP and Cyberflash here, now I have to decide which one I want to try. Alot of ppl seem to love the SPPP 1.18 according to feedback, but the cyberflash has almost the same response. I would like a poly that has alot of feel, a fair amount of power, but not too much. Since there were so many different responses for both strings, I cant seem to decide on one.

Anyone who's tried both care to offer some advice? Thanks

I've only tried SPPP 1.18 for 5 min in a hybrid with the SPPP in the mains and Yonex880 in cross.

However, I do have lotsa exp with SPPP1.23 and some with Cyberflasher 1.25. CF is stiffer with less power and feel and more spin(so in short, more poly like). CF also needed a little break in time.

If you're playing college ball and can control the power of a multi, then I wouldn't mess with that. Why are you thinking of other strings even before you tried increasing the tension?

Thanks for the response. Ive read so much about people loving polys, I thought maybe it was my turn to try them. For the next few weeks, while im getting used to my new stringing machine, I actually will be sticking to the Multi's and messing around with the tension. At one point in the offseason, I would like to tryout a hybrid of either SPPP or Cyberflash, just for the hell of it.
