Switching to a kblade 98

I use a microgel radical mp 98 and i am switching to a k blade 98.. what are the similarities and differences of the two frames? do you think i am making a smart switch? I also found the sweet spot on the microgel radical to be too small.
please let me know,
thanks.

good switch. i think you will like the feel of the kblade 98 better. it's a great all-around racquet really. good weight, great feel, great control, good pop.. i am close to purchasing one myself. a lot of people automatically discount the racquet b/c it is generally lightweight (less than 12oz).. but it plays very stable and handles itself well against hard hitters.

you should demo before buying if possible to make sure but it shouldn't be too traumatic of a switch. i can't really comment of the sweetspot, it's just not something i generally notice.. if i miss a shot, i usually blame myself, not the racquet.

cheers.

i dont think radical to kblade is much of a comparison they play very diffrently especially the more recent generations of radicals

You should have went with the Microgel Radical Pro if you wanted a bigger sweetspot and not the MP 98 version to begin with.

i like the kb98 better than the mg radical mp. kb98 feels heavier, is more stable for ROS and has more spin for slice bh. has more power but i think it will have better control.

disclaimer - you may have to discount my opinion a bit because i prefer the nblade 98&106, mg radial pro and team over the mg radical.

Wait, you are switching without even demoing it?

MG Rad is very string sensitive and might feel boardy with stiff strings, even at mid tensions.

both are solid tweener frames, its more of a preference.

how are they not the same? look at headsize, string pattern, weight, etc

They swing differently - K98 has more weight concentrated around upper loop and mg is more even distribution it seems - so even though overall balance point is close, the SW is higher for the K98.

k98 is also noticeably stiffer - which usually means less comfort/control and more power - though k98 is a relatively comfortable hit, esp. for a Wilson.

First thing I think you should demo./

I like the idea of the kb98 being Wilson's radical, exploring the same tweener territory.

I think the MG Rad is low-powered enough and mobile - it's good all-court and up at the net.

I wonder if the kb98 with its higher SW and stiffer frame means better from the baseline.

Also, it may not swing as freely in serve??? Because it'll take more to get the SW moving?

hey tennisking,

be careful with your postings as people may complain. you remember what happened to a certain person who we both know. :(

Awful new arivals!!!!!!

I got a chance to try the new arivals all......and I can say that if you try to decide between the MG Radical and K Blade 98 definitely K Blade is a better option; however for some reason the new arivals racquets are getting worse and worse; the MG has a cheap aluminium racquet feel!!!!!Terible! The K factor 6.1 which use to be such a great name (6.1) the same feels like a cheap racquet!!! Definitely the PT 630 and Trysis 260 were lot better raquets!! Same HPS 6.1 from Wilson! Now they're just looking for colours like we're stupid kids....we buy a racquet fro its colour.....

i have now played with both frames..my choice is the k blade..the forehand is terrible with the k blade but hopefully it will come along because everything else with it is amazing..i have topspin cyberflash at 55 and nxt at 61

I'm pretty interested in this frame. How is the spin produced? (I kno it's a dense pattern and all, but i found sticks like the MG Prestige to generate fairly good spin).

And if anyone can compare it to other sticks, I would appreciate the insight :).

amazing spin..great..use topspin cyberflash or cyberpower and you will get the most out of the stick..its not as stiff as they say..compared to the microgel prestige mp its better and feels a lot softer. any other frames you want me to compare?

how is the topspin compared to your babo adpc? what string did you use on the babo?

Not too sure actually. My racquet history is mostly w/ open string patterns, but lately the denser patterned sticks I've hit w/ have been pretty great: MG Prestiges, Ozone Pro Tour, N Blade (for a little bit). I did hit w/ the KbladeTour93, and it was alright but found that the stringbed was too dead for my game.

I think when i get more free time I'll try demoing it for a bit.
