Talk to me about the Burn FST 99

This frame seems unique. 19mm beam at top of handle, and 18mm At tip. Yet stiff with 22mm beam at widest point near bottom of hoop in between. 18x19 pattern. Upside-down-egg head shape like a Prince O3.

It’s a Wilson with Yonex-like feel and character. And quite a bit of room for customization.

I just set mine up with 18g added at 10 and 2, plus an overgrip. 356g, 33.0cm, 356 sw. Kevlar/syn gut at 62 lbs.

First test on court will be on Monday.

Not a very popular racket. I remember demoing it and loving it. Ended up hitting with it for about 2 hours and thought I was hitting my OHBH better than ever. A bit on the stiffer side though maybe?

It has a nice crisp yet comfy feel bouncing balls on stringbed in my room now that I’ve weighted it up. Looking forward to testing it out.

I had to use a FST 95 when I was needed to fill in a match. Very stiff heavy & powerful
Sp when a used FST 99S was available for a song, I added it to the collection.
I can really defend with this frame vs heavy hitters, as it is a slightly more open than a 18 x 20
This string pattern helps with stringbed life due to the number of mains.

I am really starting to jell with this frame, currently weighted up with extra mass at 10 and 2 and in the handle, to 350 sw, 12.54" bal. 13 oz. This is lighter than I usually use, but the lighter weight allows me to serve well while still having enough mass to get good all-around feel and control on other shots.

I like that it's crisp but with a thin beam, and the center of the stringbed is slightly (1/8") closer to the hand than most standard length midplus frames.
I also like that the the mid hoop is the stiffest part of the frame, which helps enlarge the sweet spot.

I have it strung up tight for control with 16g ashaway kevlar / 17g babalot pro xtreme, both prestretched thoroughly, @ 60 lbs.

I didn’t ever hit with the FST 99 only the 95. The 99 might have been a lot better. It just felt like one of those confusing racquet lines from Wilson. Very similar beam as the Clash, just the opposite in feel.
