OP - you need more options in your poll. My faves are the Pro Penn Marathon Extra Duty as well as the Wilson US Open Extra Duty. I read great reviews about the Penn ATPs and bought a case last year and thought they were only so so. They stayed bouncy relatively well but the felt wears much faster than the ProPenns and US Opens so they look old very quickly and they also felt much harder than the other two.

Absolute favorite ball - Dunlop Grand Prix (Wilson U.S. Open close 2nd)

Absolute worst ball - Dunlop Championship

kinda funny that my favorite AND least favorite are made by the same company

Your poll needs to be expanded to other brands to be useful. My favorite balls by far are Wilson US Open heavy duty. They give great pop when new, never have defects and hold their bounce for months. My least favorite by far are regular cheapo Penn balls. They are like hitting a sponge right out of the can and go flat after a couple sets.

I have literally tried them ALL, including the obscure brands not offered by TW. Most of them were pretty disappointing.

Currently, my choice is pro penn marathon for practice and penn atp for match play.

I play in a men's league at my club, and part of the cost includes the club providing new balls for each match. Up until yesterday they always supplied Wilson Championship regular duty balls, which aren't bad, but not their best either. Yesterday we got Babolat Championship standard duty felt balls, which I would guess are roughly the same price as the Wilsons, the club just got a really great deal on them. The Babolats seemed harder than the Wilsons, not so much as to cause any arm discomfort, but enough to be noticeable. My singles match was next to another singles match and all four of us noticed the difference. The matches were indoors on hardcourt, and I didn't notice a lot of difference in bounce, but I'd be curious how they play on har-tru.

What do you guys think about that Wilson Regular duty balls that WTA uses ?? it is supposed to be made for clay courts but WTA uses it for hard courts as well. I Used it unknowingly one time and it felt lighter and faster than heavy duty balls that ATP men uses. My serves were more effective actually...LOL.

ball manufacturers want everyone to play with heavy duty balls. or the all court balls- I hope they kick some money back for the doctors treating aches and pains and tennis elbow- there aRE SOME GREAT BALLS out there. so please buy them and let your money do the talking for you

Bump. What are you guys using especially with the "ball shortage".

I typically play with ProPenn (Extraduty-hard, regular duty- clay). But with the ball shortage, decided to try Dunlop. I also had a match earlier this year and liked the Dunlop that day, so I ordered a case of the Extraduty ATP.

My impressions: I started out on clay initially, but after an hour the 98degree w near 100% humidity got to my 4.0 friend and so we moved inside for the next hour and half of hitting. Initially the balls felt a little hard/heavy. They did fluff up initially, but that died back down equally fast and really was not an issue. But the 10-15 minute mark, I did not feel that the balls were quite as heavy. Usually by the 30 minute mark, the balls are having black lines (from the cyclone tour anthracite) and often well develop some ridges. The Dunlop never got marred by the hitting.

In terms of pressure, the balls were pretty amazing. Even after 2.5 hours of abuse (and we were ripping some) the balls seemed to have maintained their initial pressure more so than any other ball I have ever played with. In fact they guy I was hitting with asked at that point if they were like the Wilson Trinity. So I definitely feel like we could get more play or even hitting session out of them. Which is less important to me, as I like a fresh set of balls (being a tennis bumblebee - i.e. close to the 250lbs mark) I like as much bounce as I can get. But I know a lot of people want multiple plays out of the ball and it is important to them.
