Tennis Video Games

You know what I would find very interesting for a tennis video game is if they made a video game that was ultra realistic and played from a first person view, instead of a top down view. A reason why alot of tennis video games aren't great simulators is because you can see the whole court, while in real life it's alot different from that. The top down view makes certain shots much less useful such as slice, topspin, etc.

I think if a developer made the tennis video game from a first person view, it would be a HUGE hit.

Interesting premise, but the gaming industry, especially the sports core are hardly about innovation. But hell, I'd buy it.

The first person view certainly would make things alot more interesting, and much more realistic. For example, in real life, we all know that a ball that curves in mid air is much harder to hit than in a video game, not just because of the spin which makes it bounce weird, but because it's air trajectory is much harder to trace from our point of view.

Also, certain shots can be extremely deceiving from a first person view. A topspin drive may look flat, but once it hits the ground it could bounce extremely high.

I have yet to find a tennis game that has any realism to it. Unlike golf... where some games play like real golf. I wish in both case you could modify your player to play like yourself. In golf I would like to be able to limit how far I hit with each club... control the amount of spin I was capable of generating... and how consistant I was with a given shot.

It would be nice to be able to do the same with a computer tennis game.

The one thing they have never been able to get right in video tennis is volleying... and playing doubles is really bad... I have only played one that does not play one up and one back.
