The 'Adrenaline VS Alu Power' thread

I just finished testing Luxilon Adrenaline 1.25 and 1.20 gauge and have compared it to Luxilon Alu Power - a direct comparison where I have Adrenaline strung in one racquet and Alu Power in another racquet, both racquets being the same model and with the same weight and balance.

I only use poly in the crosses and always VS Team NATTY GUT in the mains, so my test is based on that.

Tried 2 tension levels: VS Team 17 28 kg mains and Alu Power/Adreanline 1.25 26 kg crosses in Babolat Pure Storm Tour GT and VS Team 17 24 kg mains and Alu Power/Adreanline 1.20 22 kg crosses in Wilson BLX 6.1 18x20.

The LOOK: Alu Power is the classic silver grey colour and Adrenaline looks almost golden or beige in colour.

First hour: Alu Power feel more crisp and I have better control on full shots. Adrenaline feels muted and softer and softer.
I get better response from the Alu Power.

2-4 hours: Alu Power still feels better, Adrenaline feels mushy and soft and lacks the control and crispness of the Alu Power.
Another soft copoly, which I like, is the Signum Pro Hyperion. Hyperion is also a soft muted poly, but in my view Hyperion is than Adrenaline.
Adrenaline will disappoint most Alu Power fans and bring joy to players, who don't like crisp hard polys, but like to use a poly made by Luxilon.

The SOUND: You get the BIG BANG sound from the racquet with Alu Power and not quite the same BANG! from the racquet with the Adrenaline in.

4-8 hours: The Alu Power begins to lack the crispy feel, but still plays on nicely. Shots starts to float a bit, but I still have decent amount of control both at the net and from the baseline.
Adrenaline starts to feel even more mushy and shots starts to fly even further out.

8-10 hours: The Alu Power broke and I cut the Adrenaline out.

The Luxilon name in my view is the only thing that will make Adrenaline a success. It feels like a cheap ordinary poly - nothing special in my view.

I hate to admit it, but Alu Power is the best feeling poly for the first 2-4 hours out there. When placed in the crosses only with VS Natural gut mains and not overtensioned, it seems to last a lot longer before it feels dead, compared to when the Alu Power is placed in the mains.

Your mileage may vary though :)
