the chair umpire role in serena's match

while i do not condone the behavior of serena in the match, I have to say that the umpire did not do a good job in refereeing this match itself. I think the confrontation could have been avoided if he or she had requested that serena approached the chair. Once there, he or she should have told her to behave herself or risk having the match forfeited.

The ATP and WTA will have to better train their umpires on how to take control over situations such as what happened with serena's match and teach them ways to diffuse and even have someone(players or fans) escorted out of a stadium when the situation like that present themselves.

DIFFERENT TIME... DIFFERENT MEASURES.

THAT IS ALL.

wHAT DO YOU THINK?

Exactly when was she supposed to do this? Like she had any warning Serena would go postal within 5 seconds of the call.

The chair did her job.

When Serena first started going nuts, you can hear her call her name.

Then she asked the line judge to tell her what was said, and then called the referee. By the book, following the rules.

The blame is to placed on one person, and one person only, and that is Serena. No excuses.
