Over time, when we're all food for Stepaneks, a split photo of RG/Wimbledon is the answer. La Decima plus Fed shaking free of Petros offers more historical significance than anything else, even if AO final was more cathartic and inspiring for lots of folks.

I no longer respond to that poster otherwise I would say that I think the photo of Nadal hugging the trophy is really sweet. I still think the Laver Cup photo sums up the season best but for two individual pictures I would have to pick this one and one of the AO17 pictures - hard to choose the best.

I actually got some from a TTW member. @Firstservingman was there. He is slightly more neutral than I but he was reporting that it was total catharsis.
@Federev

Yeah, was there on the night. I was sitting there a nervous wreck for the first four sets and was thinking of packing it in once Nadal broke in the fifth. But when Fed broke back I was on the edge of my seat, and after that it was all a blur. I went crazy after Fed broke to lead.

But I didn't start crying until after I saw Roger go nuts when he saw the hawkeye replay. When he did the kneel I was standing up and didn't cry again until he lifted the silverware.

I left quickly after the ceremony to watch the TV interviews in peace on my yuuuge hotel flatscreen. No drinking, the whole thing was best enjoyed sober.

Do you ever have nightmares that you actually did leave after the break in the fifth set?

I can't get the dumb caption out. but I saw this pic before and I instantly loved the crown and the "rex" (latin for "king") around Fed's head.

This moment is actually my favorite moment in all of sports. SO much joy and shock and years of an unbelievable load of immovable Nadal off his back. I think beating Nadal - in this setting - is what made this look so desperately joyful and brought the tears of relief. Nothing like it.

Here you go. That's how far I could edit it on my phone just now, just use blur/smudge in PS to make it perfect. :)

This thread further proves how crazy and obsessive some of the Federer family is. Dudes are literally getting upset because a fellow Federer fan didn't know what he was wearing for every moment of his life lol

Boooohooooo you're not a Federer fan or you would have known this :mad::mad:

This was the one that summed it all up for me. The completion of La Decima:

Also think the Federer Australian Open winning image with him smiling with humility, outright surprise and joy was also a truly iconic photo for 2017.

Yes, a real Federer fan would know that Roger and Mirka went to the Gala at the Met where he wore that tux with the cobra. It was publicized and talked about on this very forum.

Can't handle the amount of legendary in this photo.

And of course this one sums up how the year went.

that starshape Nadal made after La Decima was the picture of the last two centuries and it looks as if he almost planned that as he got the angle perfect for the aerial shot. Like many professional sportsmen and women bite medals I'm sure many will copy this for decades.

2 GS titles after prophets of doom and gloom had written him off:

The unconditional love he shows for the FO crown is beautiful so natural. He also loves the USO trophy dearly but you can see how much the FO means to him. The irony is those who say King of clay as if it is an insult where quite clearly Nadal wouldn't have it any other way. The above pic paints a thousand words.
