i like all era's, but the 70's were definitely tennis's golden era. big money challege matches in vegas on primetime tv, riggs battle of the sexes, celebrity pro ams, love doubles. seemed as though everyone was playing in the 70's. i think it was in the seventies tennis launched in the national spotlight and became bigtime, big money. personalitys.

I've only followed tennis since the late nineties, but I would think that nowadays we have seen some of the most exciting periods in tennis beause you never know what's going to happen. The last 5 slams have been one by different people (on the women's side.) The men's game is a but boring right now though. Maybe the likes of Nadal and Gasquet can help.

I would have picked this era because you have Fed,Hewitt, Roddick,Safin.....but the Borg ,Mcenroe, Connors, Lendl era just had way more style! There was so many differing varying ways people played. You had Brad Gilbert you used every trick in the book to win ...or Borg who was a baseliner switch to play serve and volley to beat Mcenroe at Wimbledon. Then of course there was Becker who dove for everything and scraped the hell out of all his limbs. Players showed way more emotion as well. However, all that being said...we are witnessing a very special time period right now and I would have to say that this is the second most exciting time. Clearly on the womens side this has been the most exciting...Kournikova, Sharapova, Williams, Myskina etc etc...its awesome!
