The state of Shapovalov

He doesn't have bad shot tolerance, though. He's not a flat hitter, he hits with a ton of spin and height over the net. It very much is a shot selection problem, since he always wants to hit the most aggressive shot possible in any situation he's in.

Yeah spraying 100 miles off court , not being able to keep more than 2 shots in play is not a bad shot tolerance lol.

wild how many different takes there are on why Denis hasn't been able to live up to these insane expectations, almost every single person has a different opinion

How many players his age do you know that has a fully developed/mature game? Djokovic, Federer etc. did not have complete games in their very young years. Nadal (and maybe Alcaraz) are the only exceptions maybe.

Give the youngster time to mature, Rome was not built in a day.
he's 24 though?

pretty sure those players had come into their own by then. and honestly novak's game was quite solid even in his late teens.

maturity is the word, though, you're right. less game than mentality. needs to find a way to maximize what he's best at a la raonic...he'll never be a percentage grinder and that's ok...but picking a door, a repeatable game plan, and sticking to it is important.

hes not that good. by the time theyre 23/24 you can tell how good theyre gonna be. you can call andy murray a late bloomer but he was already making GS finals at 21/22

But then how come he looks like a baby in front of Nole. Nole is 6'2
Maybe novak is taller than that, i dont know, another thing that people dont have in mind IS the cusion of the shoes, shoes with a bigger platform can make you a good couple of cms taller, Alcaraz nikes are one of the tennis shoes with less platform height, still people give too much importance to that, if he was way shorter then It would be more difficult, but his height is just fine

I don't think it's JUST fine. Another thread is made where minimum height for great server was 6'1

But I will stop posting on this thread as it's a Tangent and not related to Denis.

He doesnt need to be a great server, he can improve everything else and still he has won so much, to keep on topic, look at Dennis, perfect height, perfect serve (in my opinion) and look where he is, he Will still improve his serve, tell me one player that served better at 20 than later, none, serve is something that can be improved, despite your height

About Dennis, id say his problem now IS that he has given Up on himself, confidence must be very low, he doesnt try to be his best self on the court anymore, at the beginning with youzny i Saw his shot tolerance improve A LOT, he was really making steps, but when he Saw he still needed a lot of steps more, he just gave up, thats what i felt from watching him play anyway

The guy believed he was the next Roger Federer IMO. His attitude and bratty behaviour never sat right with me. No idea how anyone can be a fan of a player like him.

The AO match where he came close versus Nadal was an absolute embarrassment. He actually believed he was a better player than Nadal and only lost because of other factors.

Honestly, nothing but a spoilt kid who was a good tennis player, because it was probably handed to him from an early age, with access to coaches/facilities etc.

Just another snowflake in the modern generation, who bitches and whines about everything, rather than work their balls off quietly. I dunno whos worse, him or NK.

Shap's getting more returns into play; a good sign. Step by step-
Now, about that service toss..
seriously. seeing so many players today with similar issue, tossing way too much over their head rather than out to the side a bit. tsitsipas has the same problem. bad for shoulder and keeps you from carving around the ball. shapo should watch some goran clips and clean it up.

More horrendous posts from you, you really have no idea what you’re talking about do you
Shapo is still more interesting to watch than anyone else out there, even in his current state. I still have hopes he'll somehow get it together and start winning events. He should be playing 250's to gain some confidence, but he'd probably lose 3R there too.

The negative comments about him are made by those who probably have never watched a match of his. Literally.

Horacio de la Peña - What's wrong with the so-called next-gen group?

Juan Carlos Ferrero
- Does Kyrgios want to win a grand slam? Dominic Thiem is the most tennis-focused of them all. I know Denis Shapovalov's coach; he has to set phone schedules so he doesn't get mentally cluttered. This is common in this generation because they have grown up like this since childhood.

I remember Sloane Stephens back in 2017.She was very attracted to him."His skills, his looks,I had to go to him and tell him that".It was in a restaurant
