Themes/Symbolism/Favorite Quotes/Etc in the dark knight (possible spoilers)

So, I finally saw TDK today (a movie I had been dying to see since I saw Batman Begins and knew there would be a sequel), and first of...WOW. Just wow. That was easily one of my favorite movies of all-time. However, as that initial wow left me while exiting the theaters, I thought that the movie brought up some really deep themes, and I was wondering what you guys thought about themes, symbolism, etc. in the movie.

As far as favorite quotes/scenes, this was by far my favorite:

"Two-Face: You thought we could be decent men in an indecent world. But you were wrong; the world is cruel, and the only morality in a cruel world is chance.
[holds up his coin]
Two-Face: Unbiased.
[looks at Gordon]
Two-Face: Unprejudiced. Fair."

I guess that's my favorite because I think everyone can relate to how Harvey feels. I think at some point, everyone has felt that they were cheated out of something: whether it's how smart you are, what has happened to you, but there is some inadequacy that frustrates us about ourselves and we feel that the world is all about chance. Hence, the adage "life is unfair". I think that the symbolism of Harvey Dent and how easily corruptible such an honorable person was truly amazing and the fact that the directors captured this so incredibly truly amazed, especially since most comic book movies are just cheap thrills.

But anyway, what's your guys' thoughts?

To be honest, I never look for depth in movies. I'm a slow thinker and prefer to chew things over before reaching a conclusion. Film critics digest what they see and produce an opinion right away. I personally prefer to sit down and read a book, flip the pages back, re-read passages, think on it, and only then move on.

But, what you just said brings up a good point which I really haven't thought about. I just watch movies for entertainment/killing time

i liked the jokers quote before he burned the pile of money.
it went something like "my interests are dynamite, gunpowder and gasoline. and what are they all? cheap" then he sets the money on fire. i dunno, i just thought it was kinda funny

I really did not analyze the movie as much, but know i know what you mean.. the joker was friggin hilarious, especially when he made the pencil "disappear" lol

I liked it when the joker was in that questioning room being watched by the one cop and asked him how many of his friends he killed. The cop than said six and the joker just mouthed six in fake disbelief. I thought it was hilarious.

I also like when the joker was walking away from the hospital as it blew up and did a little hop-skip in his dress.

I thought the scene where Joker and Batman played chicken on the street, Batman on his bike, the Joker just standing there, summed up who they were, their relationship, in a nutshell.
