Ti.radical question.

So, I got three of these. Two of them look to be from the same mold as my MG radicals, and have L5 on the inside of the throat and came with synthetic grips.
The third one has a 19-20 mm beam, has no specs or anything on the throat, no Mid Plus on the side, a different buttcap, came with Head's finest Calfskin, and a clearly different mold. More similar to the prestige. The bean doesn't bulge out on the sides.
Oh, it says S.E.3. on the inside of the throat.

Does anyone have any clue what's up with the third one? The person I bought it from said that it came from someone who strung on the pro circuit.

Pics would be a good idea, though based on your description, it sounds like a pro stock frame. I'm probably wrong, however...

God, I hope it isn't a pro stock... I thought I found the greatest racquet on earth, and loved the fact that it was only $70-ish...

Shows how the spot with the Ti. weaving is just painted on with the unknown one, but with the real one it's actually there EDIT- actually, looking at it here, the resizing seems like it's made it less obvious. But I gaurantee you that's how it is. You can also see how the beam is flat compared to the other one.

S.E.3 on the bottom.

Blank side.

No midplus.

I'll string up the real ones and hit with them later tonight after my match, and tell you guys how they feel compared to the unknown.

I'll tell you right now though, the unknown feels GREAT. Smooth, buttery, stable, you name it.

That's rather odd. I've never seen anything quite like that before. I'd be curious to know how it compares to the MicroGel as well as the Ti. Versions...

I know, I thought it was really weird too... I searched for about 30 minutes and came up with absolutely nothing.
All I know for sure is that it's not my goal to get more of these, unless they're pro stocks.

Where did you get them? I haven't really seen too many Ti. Radicals available for sale online...

One on the bay, one through the FS/T here.

If you're thinking of buying some, you better not have the same gripsize as me...

Nah, I have enough Radicals for now. But, I do use 4 1/2. In case you ever want to pass them along to me...

Nice! But that one racquet is not a real Ti.Radical MP. It is just in disguise pretending to be a Ti.Radical MP, just painted with the cosmetics of Ti.Radical. Same goes for the pyrokid's S.E.3.

Yes, VS saw the thread! I was waiting for that to happen...

Notes on the frame...

Seems to flex a LOT in the head compared with the real ti.rad.
VERY light stock.
I added the same amount of weight I had on my MG radicals + 6 grams at the poles, and it still swung like a stick. I had to add another 20 or so grams.
I got home and weighed it... It's about 11.9 oz now. So it must have been around 10.6-10.7 oz to start with.
It is 27 inches, so it's not the same as hrstrats.
about as powerful as my MG rads with the weight added, and has much better touch and feel.
Same headsize as mine.
Any ideas what's under it?

Also, the Ti.radical is very nice as well. Like a better MG radical. I think I like them more than the S.E.3, mostly because of the extreme similarity to my current frame.

I would put C.A.P. Grommets on it. Look at how the grommet channel on the S.E.3 is so much deeper and wider than a real Ti.Radical MP.. It was made for C.A.P. Grommets. It is definitely a Pro Tour 630 MOLD. Don't know what S.E.3 stands for sorry. Could be a variation on the layup. Just my speculation. I would have to have a hit with it to see what is going on.;-)

I swear VS, you are amazing with this stuff...
I forgot to tell you guys it came with CAPS, and I just replaced them... How could you tell that just by my pics?

I broke the string on it tonight anyway, I'll string it up again with CAPS I guess.

Yep, and it is a completely diff layup as you can clearly see from the pics....and it is a beast!

Whether it is heavy as a hairpin or loaded with silicone I don't know....and I don't plan on ripping it apart to find out.

Plan on just having an occasional hit with it when running my kid through drills....def not a gamer...too much of a beast for me...tho it serves bombs, I can't handle it off the ground in anger for very long. I'll just enjoy it for casual hits.

When hit in the sweet spot with good pace you feel absolutely nothing.....just like with my St. Vincent ps85. Nothing, the ball just zooms.

Weird magic for sure.

I think pyro's stick is a PT 630 paint job....but who knows? I only know that he is lucky to have it and should enjoy it....and as I said the stock ti Rads are dynamite too.

He's got some good gear there no doubt.....

I have pictures of Victor Hanescu's 'Liquidmetal Radical'. From it you'll see that it looks like the LM paintjob has been painted over the top of a Ti. Radical. Whether or not its a real Ti. Rad ( I doubt it), or even a Pro stock Ti. Rad

It's not a real or Pro Stock Ti.Radical. Hanescu's frame is from the same MOLD as the Pro Tour 630. It does show the time from when Hanescu's frames were manufactured.

Cheers VS

It is interesting to see that he doesn't want to change frames considering it had a Ti. Rad pj, and then they just painted over the top with a pj from several (radical) versions back. He still had the Ti. Rad grommets on the frames. Most of them were in an ok condition, but ones was badly damaged and I had to tube a number of them. Not good when he wants them in a hurry.

Well I forgot to take the lead off before the picture. Whoops.

But anyway, it feels like... there's nothing there. You hit the ball and most of the time it just goes. If you mishit it a little, you get a weird, bending feeling though.
Compared to the actual Ti.rad, it plays totally different. Similar feel, but they play so differently.
And that's weird about Hanescu's, I wonder who mine was made for?

Sounds like it's a great feel. What would you estimate the flex to be? Low 50's? I really want to try this racket...

Hmm, flex really seems dependent on where you strike the ball on the racquet face.
Higher up, it seemed obscenely low. I have no idea how to estimate it, but it was the flexiest thing I've ever felt other than broken in wood.
Lower, it was flexier that the radical by a bit, but not at that same level.
So a lot of flex in the hoop.

I hit with it again today for a while. I love the feel, don't like the balls I hit. It reminded me of a more powerful PSL with less spin.
I didn't really like the lack of spin that much.
Great frame as far as I can tell, just... not my style. Very interesting hit though.

And the Ti.rads are great, they started out lighter so I could polarize them more so they were a better feeling radical with more spin.

Serves were fantastic with both. Tons on spin with the radical, and with the SE3 they just flew.

So are you keeping the SE3? It just seems so different than the Radical, I couldn't imagine switching between the two...

He did have i.Radical cosmetics back in 2002 on his PT630 MOLD then changed to LM Radical Cosmetics on the PT630 MOLD in 2005.
In 2007 used FXP Radical Cosmetics on his PT630 MOLD.
Hanescu_FXP_Cosmetics.jpg

However in 2008 went back to the LM Radical cosmetics on his PT630 MOLD. Can you see original Radical Tour 630 (Radical Trisys 260 MP in USA) yellow coming through the chips in the top coat of orange paint?

Wow, I think it's so weird how he's using Paint Jobs of rackets that are 3-4 generations ago. Is he not sponsored anymore? I would be surprised if he was after seeing this...
