USO Day 16: I watch Stan blast backhands while above me Murray gets bounced

Confession: if my friend wasn't annoying me with texts I'd have been happy to stay at the P-courts watching Stan hit with Magnus and on the next court over DelPo was hitting as well. Perfect afternoon weather.

(Someone informed me USTA members with night tickets (and USTA membership card) can enter the grounds at 4pm instead of 6pm. This explains the presence of two obnoxious bankers I met. I prefer the many years ago dangerous massing of the crowd outside the East gates that used to occur before they let the night crowd in at 6pm and made them wait outside of the facility until the last Ashe day match was over. Keep the bankers out until the rest of us can make an escape. :p)

Meanwhile I look up to Ashe and the roof is closed (you can tell because the upper panels surrounding the stadium are closed when the roof is closed). It must be once the roof closes for a match it stays closed ?????? It's a long trek up. I made it for the last few games. The crowd seemed into it but still people leave so close to the end. This occurs all the time. I kid you not people walked out of courtside seats during the Sampras-Agassi 2001 QF. They walk out of anything. Beat the traffic ?

PS, the absence of the Heineken House this year is a big loss. No branding on the boardwalk fence for the first time in years (don't care but the absence is notable). No "chariot" rides from the subway down the boardwalk. :(:(:(
