Not bad, id be really fun to play you.

The only thing is that you or your friend doesn't have any shoulder turn and your footwork isn't the best. but good strokes overall and need to see some real points played out.

LOL I think 2/3 of TT is Asian :D:D

well I didn't see too many 2hd backhand in the video, but from what I can see I think you're doing a lot of things right. Nice closed stance and shoulder turn. I also like that you don't "fall back" on the shot (see how your left leg naturally swings around after hitting the backhand). Backhand at 5:17ish was good too.

As far as generating more power on your backhand... try hitting more with your left arm. Drop the racket head before making contact with the ball and explode into the shot. Also the left arm needs to be fully extended instead of wrapping around your neck.

See Nalbandian's lethal backhand: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCFdXTMuc64#t=3m00s

The things that caught my eye were you need to take a wider stance on your split step and you need a loop on your take back.

Watching you guys hit kinda reminds me of how my friend and I hit when we are goofing around.

Overall, not too bad. Actually, I know that you feel your backhand is the weaker shot, but i.m.o. your backhand has better technique than your forehand. As others have said, your forehand needs more shoulder rotation.

Nice touch on some of those drop shots and drop volleys.

The footwork was a little lazy, but I figure thats mostly because you guys aren't playing serious points. I'd be curious to see how much you guys step it up to play out a set.

I'm the guy in the yellow shirt. Right now, the biggest thing bothering me is that I'm having trouble generating pace with my backhand.

Any tips for improvement would be appreciated.

I only needed to see you hit 1 BH to know why your BH has no power. You are starting with a closed face on your backswing. You can do this with your FH. It's fine and you can still generate power. However with a 2HBH, you should not START with a closed face. If you watch all the advanced players and pros, the racket face is slightly open during the takeaway. Then during the forward swing they close the face. You need to do that to generate power esp. on a 2HBH.

One way to practice the left hand dominance is to practice barely using the right hand, maybe holding your right hand grip with 2 fingers only, and basically hit that way until you get the hang of using your left hand as the dominant one. Heck you can start by holding it with your left hand only, choking up the racket (basically where you would normally put your left hand for your 2HBH) and practice hitting left handed forehand. Once you can hit them past the net with decent spin (depth is not important here - hitting above the net is) then move on to using the right hand thumb + index, then the entire right hand.

Also, overall, relaxing your grip and fulling extending (as mentionned above) into the shot before finishing at the shoulder would give you more depth and pace.

On the BH side, you are just muscling the ball. Try not to be so stiff in the wrists on the backhand - try to loosen your grip and flex the wrist so you start with the butt cap pointed at the ball. I find it is sometimes helpful to hold the right-hand with just your thumb and index figure to allow the left hand to work like a forehand.

EDIT: I cannot believe that Kunohara posted the same advice at the same time...

Thanks for all the advice, everyone. I'll take this into account next time I play.

Also, I know some have stated that I need to work on my forehand more. Was the technique I used for the forehand at 2:34 something I should aim to do more consistently? I think that was one of the better forehands I hit in the video. If not, are there any suggestions on how I could improve my technique on that side?

If you think you are having trouble with your backhand, STOP running around it in practice.

Hmm.... that makes soooo much sense. Thanks. I needed that bit of advice. I'll have to bear that in mind. Easy to forget that you're meant to work on weak shots in practice instead of going for glory with your stronger shots.

Watching the video, the thing that struck me was the loopiness of a lot of those shots -- some of them borderline low moonballs. I'm not sure if it is just because you guys were just doing casual hitting. Many of the forehands shots had some pace, but many were so loopy that the pace really didn't matter. Your opponent was standing there disinterested... waiting for the next loopy ball to drop. Driving backhand is meh. Slice backhand was really lacking... you popped up 95% of them about 10 feet or higher.

Other than that, I really liked the form on the forehand. You jump up -- in place -- as you swing forward creating even more topspin. I thought the footwork was decent.

It has been said, but during practice sessions... you shouldn't run around your weak shot (backhand). You should use your practice sessions to hit like 500 of those things.

Couple things....
Don't let people tell you that you NEED a loop on the forehand. Some top 3 WTA players use almost exactly that form on the forehand, but hit harder.
Low bat speed on the 2hbh makes for a loopy push ball.
Your forehand approach and stroke off low balls is horrid. It's pure push with no idea what to do. Swing FAST and HARD, hit outside of the ball, to hit heavy top/side spin and keep it in.
