Level of play: Nole 2011. A dominant 3 Slam season in the most competitive years of tennis(2011-13).
Achievements: Nole 2015. 3 Slam + 6 Masters + WTF. Federer 2006 is close(2 less Masters, but 2 more overall titles).

So I'll go with these 3.

We can obviously take Laver 1969. The CYGS. But honestly, even if Nole would had beat Medvedev in USO final, I was not going to take 2021> 2015 in terms of achievement.
It's hard to compare 1969 against a recent season. It technically was in Open Era, but a lot of dynamics were like pre-open era in late 60s.

2 less masters but just 1 more title:
2015 - 11 titles: 3 slams, WTF, 6 masters, 1 MM
2006 - 12 titles: 3 slams, WTF, 4 masters, 4 MM

I mean he beat an almost 40 year old Rosewall in 2 slam finals. That already says it all.

The tour was quite fractured early on before the ATP consolidated everything in '90! You had independent tours where players like Nastase and Connors played, The WCT going up and down in importance for others, while the ITF was still responsible for the Majors! There were tons of lucrative exhibitions and shoot-outs; esp. back in the 70's! Money on the tour was still miniscule in comparison to today so $$ was more important to make over winninng tournaments at times! Lendl and Wilander made it more important to win majors by going to all 4 early on when most players skipped The FO and AO! Borg made the FO what it is today by winning 6 of 8 years he played the game! I never really gave Connors much "due" because of those 2 major wins over an old geezer! IMO it was pathetic to laud him so much at the time! :cautious::unsure::giggle::happydevil:

Has to be Laver’s 1969 followed by Nadal’s 2010. Laver won all the slams in 1969 and Nadal won the 3 biggest slams in 2010. Nobody has matched those years in open era.

I mean if you polled all the players and fans and ranked what you want to win the most in any given year, the top 2 achievements would be;

1 - Calendar slam
2 - Wimbledon, USO and FO

I’d say at least 95% of the poll would agree with this.

We are not living in the 1970s and 1980s anymore. Aus open is as much prestigious as any other slam, arguably Wimbledon is considered a tad more more prestigious even today but other than that all the other slams are equal.

Novak's feat of winning the NCYGS in 2015-2016 period and also being the closest to the CYGS in 50+ years (won 27 out of 28 matches and lost the 28th one) is the highest achievement in Men's Tennis across decades. Also his level of 2011 when he subdued a prime Fed and peak Nadal is what makes that season the most dominant season ever with the possible exception of 1984.

Nadal's 2010 was a great year in its own right but pales in comparison to many 3 slam seasons till date.

Statistically, it comes down to Federer 2006, Djokovic 2015 or McEnroe 1984. In terms of level of play, it comes down to Djokovic 2011, Federer 2005 or Borg 1979.

As a Federer fan, I have always been impressed with Nole's 2011. The way he burst onto the scene, dismantling the Fedal domination at a time when they were both in their prime (especially Nadal) and just tore through opponents like nobody's business playing aggressive tennis was breathtaking. Its a pity he tailed off slightly after the US Open.

When "old man" Agassi was allowed a 2nd and 3rd life in the late 90's; esp. winning those AO, it showed the competition was putrid and waiting for the next great champion! We had to slog thru Agassi, then Hewitt before the crown was deservedly set on the head of Roger; for a little while anyway! :D:-D:notworthy::happydevil:
"Old man" 5 star Vecna Agassi was requiring Fed to roll 20s to beat him in New York as a 23 and 24 year old man at the absolute height of his powers. Peak Agassi would flay him.
