Recently acquired a 6.1 95s, and I'm really enjoying every aspect of the stick, except for about 2.
The first is that the string durability is quite poor for me. In one week of playing, I've had to go through 4 sets of string. I had to cut one out since tension dropped too low, but the others I got about maybe 7hrs combined.
One set was Tourna BZ 1.20, which I knew wouldn't last for long (~1hr).
2nd set was Lux Alu Rough 1.25 (~2hrs)
The other two were Genesis Black Magic 1.29. I had to cut one set out since it dropped in tension too much and was not keeping balls in anymore. The other set I had for about 4hrs which I also could tell that control was really dropping by the end.
Which brings me to the second aspect. At least from the one set of string that lasted long enough for me to really play with, it seemed like Genesis BM really dropped in playability quick. Having never played with BM before, I'm not sure if that's due to the string itself, or just the extreme string pattern doing heavy damage on the string. If anyone has insight on that, that would be great.
The last general question I have is just some ideas to help improve string durability in the 6.1 95s.
I know lowering gauge (As in thicker) will help, but would that start negating the effects of spin generation that the thinner gauges of string would offer?
Would string savers do anything beneficial here?
And lastly, just any string advice that has worked well for extreme spin pattern users or 95s'ers?
Thanks.
