Since cinema discussion is all the rage these days...
Seriously, I hate this guy and his films. The only one of his I even thought was even remotely okay was Melancholia. I can certainly understand where some may feel him in more of an artistic vein than many directors today, but it's borderline kitsch, in my opinion.
I guess this is where I and the cinephiles part ways regarding "art" in film. I'd much rather sit through the commercial, populist crap produced by Spielberg, Lucas, Abrams, Nolan, Scorsese, et al. than wade through the muddled garbage that is the misogyny and "vision" of von Trier.
I honestly think his most worthy credit is this.
Of course, I welcome disagreements. I hope I find in due time why my opinion is absurd.
