What to re-string my Head Extreme MP racquet with?

Hi all

I am pretty new to all this string talk. I recently broke the string on my head Extreme MP racquet and my tennis club restrung it with:

Babolat PRM Blast 17g and Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour 16g. 55lbs.

I played with it last week end and I now have pain running through my right arm. The string felt ping-gy, plastic-key, and had no bite. I guess this is because my racquet is strung with a poly? I just cannot play with these strings.

I now need to re-string the racquet. Could some one please help me out? What strings should I use? I read the string forum and quite afew people like the Technifibre x1 biphase string.

Should I string my racquet fully with this string or cross it with another string? If so, should I cross it with a poly string or another multifilament string? Should I cross string it with a Signumpro hyperion 17g or 16g? Also what tension should I string my racquet at?

I've been reading so much about strings I am strung-out! Please if anyone can help, that would be really great. I've been to a few of the tennis pro shops in Sydney and they don't seem to be too helpful. They tend to want me to string it with whatever string they have - like Gamma TNT 16g.

Thanks in advance.

Well it depends what you want from the string. For me, x-1 is an exemplar multi and should satisfy you no matter what you are looking for generally. I don't exactly like hyperion. Frankly, tornado is better and cheaper (ironically from the same company). You might want a softer copoly based on your analysis of rpm. So, maybe try sppp or scorpion? or try bgu if youre willing to take a risk! its a bit stiffer than normal, but I love it nonetheless.

if you do try scorpion, get the 17L...

and make sure you string it 1-3lbs lower...i strung it at 59 and it killed my elbow/shoulder...

i highly recommend scorpion though :)

I'd say you should lower your tension to around 50 lbs. If you still have arm pain look for a softer string to cross with...any synthetic gut like Prince or OG Sheep Micro will do.

Thanks to everyone for all your comments and help.

I am going to string it with Technifibre x1 biphase 17g and the Sppp 16g at 50lbs. I will then restring my second head racquet with the Scorpion and Technifibre and see what is better.

Thanks so much. I feel relieved now.

It's agood thing I went through all this cos now I am learning about strings and guage and tension and etc etc.

Hi Everyone,..

Just to give an update on my string issue.

I strung one racquet with mains sppp guage 16 and x-one biphase guage 17g at 50lbs - it felt nice BUT not as nice as volkl cyclone guage 17g and Volkl syn gut guage 16g strung at 56lbs and that was brillaint.

The strings really had a good grip on the ball and everytime I hit the ball,..I see yellow fluff all around my hitting zone. (Thta's how great it grips the ball). I haven't enjoyed playing tennis so much since I started this new string. I love it.

So if anyone is thinking of trying out strings...they should certianly give the cyclone a go. + it was really good value for money.
