What years are the final years on tour for Djokovic and Nadal?

We know the "end" of your career (Christ I make it sound like death) can come at any time especially when you're out there on tour in your mid to late 30s with over 20 years of mileage on the clock.

What seasons do you predict Nadal and Djokovic to retire in?

I think Nadal for the next couple of seasons can manage to play with the foot workaround, the foot numbing technique. I don't know whether his recurrent abdominal issue will go away though, maybe taking the rest of this season off could help. I see him retiring in 2024 where he will be 38.

Djokovic's last 12 months have been marred in a stop/start motion which has hurt his chances in the slam race, he's playing in Astana (No match spoilers) and he looks to be in great shape, moving well and his overall game is the best I've seem him all year. I think with a schedule of 12/13 tournaments, a Federer-esc schedule that Djokovic can play on until 2025.

Winning slams is what ultimately matters to these two, masters to them in my opinion are mickey mouse tournaments, their energies will be spent on winning slams. When Nadal and Djokovic retires I will be emotional as they and Federer are the very best Male tennis players this sport has ever offered.

I think that if Novak is not injured he will retire at most 1 year after Nadal if he surpasses him in GS, I think that without Nadal on the circuit he would lose a lot of motivation

Nadal 2024 (Probably a career ender injury). Djokovic 2028-2029. I see no reason for Djoker to stop as his decline isn't bad at all. Its much slower's than Nadals. Put every record out of reach

2024 for Nadal and 2026 for Djokovic would be my picks if money were on the line, maybe with either (or both) remaining 'active' for another year in case of suffering a season-shattering injury. Ages thirty-eight and thirty-nine for Nadal and Djokovic respectively are fair numbers for their last years on tour considering their longevities and health records. Djokovic could probably go on for longer, but his motivation once he's secured the Slam race will likely be slim.

Djokovic - 2025. Will be 38, you gotta think his speed/reflexes will slow down by then

Nadal - 2024. Remains to be seen how he'll recover from this ab tear, but I can see next year being his last if he doesn't win RG

Yeah no point in stopping when Djokovic is showing little decline in physical health, his slam results are actually getting better except for self inflicted absences, and he can cruise through the likes of Medvedev and co, while anyone else showing a semblance of resistance - zverev/sinner/thiem etc has the solid stability of nine pins.
