Something i notice about Nadal's game recently, is his backhand when he's pull out wide. All he does now is return the shot with a neutral one of his own, or loop the ball down the line. Whatever happened to his running cross court rocket? It use to have more pace, angle, and was flatter than his normal groundies; all the ingredients to pull the opponent to the doubles alley.
He's shown glimpses of it here and there, but i cat understand why he doesnt hit that shot more frequently. See AO 2009 final if you dont know what i'm talking about.
