While posting about Gene Mayer I thought about players who had wins over the big four of Borg, Mc Enroe,Connors and Lendl
Mayer was one and Tanner and Vilas were the others
Kriek never beat Borg or Lendl
Clerc never beat Borg as neither did Gerulaitis
Panatta never beat Mc Enroe
Pecci never beat Mac and never faced Lendl
Orantes never beat Lendl
Noah never defeated Connors and Mac
Teltscher never beat Connors
Ramurez never beat Mac or Lendl
Gottfried beat Borg and Lendl but I don' t think he beat The two fellow americans
Amritraj beat all of them bar Lendl
And of course neither Becker or Wilander got a shot at Bjorn
Antbody can help here?

Correction.Victor Pecci beat 1979 JMac at the much coveted Forest Hills TOC, part of the WCT calendar. He beat Connors at Roland Garros and Borg at Montecarlo.Vilas at both, Rome and Paris. But I just don´t recall he ever met Ivan Lendl.

Incidentlly, peak time Mats in 84 needed a 10-8 last set to beat an out of form, almost retired Victor on clay.

Your boy Stockton beat 3 out 4, took Lendl to 5 at Wimbledon in 84.

Teltscher did actually beat Connors at Chicago in 1987, after losing to him 15 times in a row before that, so he also beat each of the big 4. Borg retired after 5 games during his win over him at Hamburg in 1979, although it still counts of course.

yes.I remember Teltscher did beat Lendl at the 1980 IO QF and, of course, Mc Enroe during the round robin section of the 1981 Masters.Mac , apparently, had feasted out the night before and looked completely wasted. He was wrongly informed that he could lose to Teltscher and STILL avoid Lendl in the semis...

Kiki, you'll like this...

Stockton beat:

Laver, Rosewall, Newcombe, Roche, Ashe, Smith, Nastase, Orantes, Panatta, Tanner, Connors, Vilas, Gerulaitis, Borg, McEnroe.

Who's the one top 70s player missing?

Did he beat Jan Kodes? that is the one missing.I guess he did because both played under contract the Hunt´s tour in 77...and Stockton was head and shoulders the best player of the regular tour ( and 77 Kodes was not prime Kodes)

Stockton ws extremely dangerous when playing well

Apparently they only played twice - Indy 1970 and Philly 1974 - with Kodes winning both.
