Why are the Tecnifibre T-Fight DCs so bad?

Is anyone using these? I'm not sure if any other racquets have received such bad reviews.

They look nice and have really good specs and string pattern. But I have to think its hiding and complete mess underneath. Perplexing how a racquet can be used by so many pros, yet are so poorly rated.

Hey TennisHound,

I used the Tfight DC 320 for a while and while it ultimately wasn't a racket I stuck with for long, I think it gets a bit of a bad rap. Felt very similar to a Bab PD/PD Tour and I had a lot of the same issues with it. Couldn't make it through 2 sets without elbow pain and the power was fun, but uncontrollable. I could blast serves but they only went in a fraction of the time and I had to aim for big big targets in the service box as I could not come anywhere close to the type of precision on serve that I have with many other rackets.

I would say that these rackets (at least the DC 320 which I used) have top quality paint job and construction, and if you like a stiff powerful, somewhat heavier stock racket, then they are worth a swing, just ultimately wasn't for me.

I wonder if Tecnifibre copied Head's idea with Graphene. I think the DCs rated even lower than the Dynacores. Too bad

Actually, they’ve gotten a lot of positive reviews here and elsewhere. I’m happy with my 315 DCs pretty much stock and am experimenting with a 305 as I like the 18x19 pattern a bit better than most 18x20s I’ve used.

Not the DC LTD..... that's an amazing racquet. I know the LTD isn't like anything else in their lineup though.

I demoed the 320 DC for a week and it was a OK racket, but I couldnt dial it in well as I expected with other rackets within its DC catagory. The 315 Limited was flexible as heck its and allows you to modify the specs to your liking. the DC verison should be roughly the same, maybe a slight different response.

The DC 305 is one of the best rackets on the market. They just need to be tuned because they don't have alot of weight at 12. They do not work very well in stock form though.

I know a contract player who is on the ATP tour who practically tested all the rackets on the market adjusted to his specs, he kept the DC 305 and when I played his, I really understood why.

Much preferred the previous 3 generations of T Fight series. The DC to me became too tinny and stiff for my liking.

I have the 320DC, didn't end up sticking with it because I just couldn't serve well with it, though many report they serve bombs.

I found it to have great power, easy depth, very surprising spin on tap if you wanted it. Great control too, if you swung for a spot, it just went there. And pretty good stability.

Surprised it is not more popular.

I reckon it would be a great racquet for a counter-puncher to easily redirect incoming pace with good control.

I just preferred the 315ltd in the end as it better suited my game all court net rushing game, and I couldn't volley well with the 320DC, or get my serve working.

I think you'd find that they are not using the actual racquet... more likely it's a version of the T-Fight DC 315 LTD built to their desired specs

Just where are you reading these "poor " reviews? IMHO the TFight 315 LTD is a superb racquet..... I'm 83 and in the last 25 years I've played with over 100 different racquets and right now the 315 LTD is my pick of the lot......I suggest that you ought to play with one before commenting on them.

I don't think @TennisHound was talking about the 315 LTD... I think he was referring to the T-Fights DC models that are the stiffer RA non-LTD versions... unless I'm mistaken (in which case I completely agree with you @ced).

That’s what I thought, too. Even with that, though, there has been a lot of positive feedback on the TW boards and elsewhere for the T-Fight Dynacores and DCs. As someone who was interested in and eventually purchased non-LTD T-Fights, I’ve followed related threads here for a couple years. TennisHound himself has been a regular critic among mostly good reviews. Perhaps he was being self-referential.

These are great racquets. I'm going to guess their margins are less on Tecnifibre right now, hence the poor reviews.

I guess I'm the only one that noticed the bad reviews from TW.

I guess you just assume people read these. Obviously not.

It wouldn't matter how bad it is though, because if you have people argue and crusade for it enough, all the sudden its better than sliced bread, regardless of how it really plays. They will say "Its really not that bad. The TW testers all had bad tacos that day", then all the shallow followers will say "Great lets get one, these things are the best playing racquets I've ever used." lmao

Obviously the case in this thread. I tried them and couldn't make them work, and then I read the reviews. Btw, the LTDs don't count.

I accept your experience... I accept their experience... neither is right nor wrong... why can't both be true...

I noticed that the reviews were not necessarily really positive (on non-LTD/ Limited models). I think it also depends on where you are coming from. Some people just want to pick a racquet off the shelf and for it to play great (or at least as great as possible). They don't want to bother with mods etc. I can see a point in that. Get the racquet that does most things best (let's call it Best of Stock (BOS) - I Trade Mark the ---- out of that one ;)). Others may look at their racquet and say this thing feels really comfortable, swings well on all my strokes, and has a great balance and feel. On the negative it has a very small sweet spot, a dead spot towards the top, the swing weight is a little low, and it is a little light. Now comfort, feel, and balance are the most important things to me and therefore I think I can work on the other things and create a racquet that is going to be even better. To each their own... imo.

I personally think comfort and feel are very hard things to change if they don't exist in the stock form (that's why many people find the PT630 great or the Wilson K90 or PS85). High static weight and SW (stock) may fit in the same category (for some). Dead spots, small sweet spots, too little weight or SW (at least to me) are things that can easily be changed and modified to personal taste (hence why Pros stick with the same racquet but will tinker with weight, balance, and SW throughout their career).

So I guess what I'm trying to say is that when I read a review, I look for what they are saying is wrong and whether that is something that in my view is fixable or not (and therefore a deal breaker).
