I am normally EEE (mostly in toe box). I prefer something lightweight.

The original Babolat SFX were great and durable. The Babolat SFX3 lacks lateral stability compared to the original. But still overall a comfortable shoe that has been my go to. TW has it listed at 13.9 ounces.
Looks like they released two colors for 2020. (pictured the left two)

Read good things about the original, they released a new K-Swiss Hypercourt Express 2 updated version. TW has it listed at 13 ounces. I used to wear k-swiss as they are have always been a bit wider fit than other brands. Wondering if someone can compare these hypercourts to the SFX3? As well as comparing this 2nd version to the original.

Yonex Sonicage 2 Wide just released in 2020. TW has it listed at 11.2 ounces. Worst part is their catalog on their website shows a "special order" black/blue color that seems not possible to get (I have asked and tried). Yonex is a reputable brand known for innovation. Wondering how this wide shoe stacks up against the above. Seems from TW customer feedback the original's main complaint was durability. Given how light it is, makes sense.

Both Adidas Übersonic 3

ADIZERO-UBERSONIC-3-R1.jpg

and SoleCourt Boost

are shoes with some of the widest toe boxes on the market. The former is a speed oriented shoe and the latter is a stability/cushion type of shoe.

Anybody knows a good wide shoe that can be used on clay court? I always used regular shoes and didn't know there where other widths, so used to buy a size larger but still the sole was to narrow.

Solecourt Boost for sure. Great fit for wider feet.

TW lists SoleCourt Boost as slightly wide but the Übersonic 3 is listed as medium. Safe to say Solecourt Boost is wider than the Übersonic 3?

Over the past year, I've search far and wide for the best shoes for my flat and wide feet. Here are my notes:

  • K Swiss hypercourt: breathable toe box. Felt a bit flat with lack of arch support. Heel impact felt hard
  • Adidas Solecourst boost: wide, but clunky. Felt like bricks on my feet and i think it may have contributed to my calf and heel problems. Really wish I skipped these, instead of insisting these would eventually break in and for me.
  • Adidas ubersonic: wide, but tight felt like the roof of the shoe was pushing down on the top of my forefoot. I unable to raise my toes up. Couldn't keep these on for more than 5 minutes
  • Yonex sonicage: Didn't feel as wide in the forefoot. The pair i tried on had a sharp plastic piece poking my foot and i couldnt ignore it.
  • Diadora speed Blueshield fly: Wide fit but somehow also snug, even with thin socks. Very cushioned but again, quite snug.
  • Babolat SFX3: I actually started with these at the very beginning of my search, and they felt perfect right out the box. The only reason I abandoned these is because I wanted to see if there was anything better. I have now concluded that these are the best shoes for me. The only drawback is that wear down faster than other shoes, especially on hardcourt. But I dont mind buying a new pair every 5 months if they will keep my feet healthy.
Of course, the best thing to do is to try them out for yourself. Once you find *your* pair- grab them! Believe me, I spent too much time trying trying out and shipping back online returns.

Well, I wear 45 1/3 in SCB, and 46 in Ü3, so that might be the answer to your question. On the other hand, SCB are generally regarded as overly large/wide for the respective size.

I need to know what is the scale that TW uses when they put such definitions as "medium" and "wide". Ü3s are much wider in the toe box than for example Gel Res 7. I would say that compared to the majority of the tennis shoes on the market Ü3s are wide, and the SCB extra wide (for the same size).

Was the sonicage you tried the wide version? Thanks for your review! It has me seriously thinking of just buying another set of sfx now.

I need a 6E fitting and currently wear K Swiss BigShot light leather a half size up. Usable but I would prefer slightly more width in the toe box and would welcome any suggestions.
New Balance 4E are not wide enough and their 6E X-trainers are too heavy although I persevered with them for years.

Every time I find a great fitting shoe, the new comes and the next version number appears and it's always on a narrower last. When I do find something I like I buy several pair. I've got 2 pair left of my current Diadora Speed Elites and then back to the drawing board. They are getting slightly smaller with every new generation and also more plastic and less leather. :(

Yes. But agreed with others, best to try them all out. I may actually size down on the SCB because there's so much space. If you go through my post history, I made a comparison post of wide fit shoes.

in the same boat, probably between 2e/4e most recently have tried-
sfx3-pretty wide, no break in required at all, not great stability for me, but fit great
gel res 8 wides-could not even get my foot into them, i have shoe stretchers but these were too narrow i think would have torn
fila axilius 2-not bad at all, not much break in required, weight is good but padding on bottom not great for hard court
am breaking in yonex soniccage 2 wides right now at work, toe box is a little tight but otherwise not bad, will play in them this weekend, wow really light

sounds like sfx is the winner? i agree that the stability is a bit lacking in the sfx3, especially considering that the 1st gen didn't have this problem.
let us know what you think of the yonex sonicage2 wides. i hate that it is only available in white (wide version)

Anyone have tried the Asics GR8 Wide?

I have tried Diadora Speed Blueshield 2 which has wider fit in size 12 and it fit my 11.5 3E foot perfectly. Diadora changed the width to medium on Speed Blueshield 3, but changed back to wider fit on Speed Blueshield 4.

Why not get Speed 4 then ? I do not have wide feet, probably just medium and was able to transition from Speed 2 to 3 no problem. Sure, the 3 were slightly tight at first but after 2 hours no problem going in between the two. Just saying if you know 2 and 4 are the same and you liked 2 then what's the issue ?
I have used SFX 1 and 2, the first ones were great, second not as much. I liked GR6 and Barricade Boost, also Prince T22/Lite. At his time Diadora Speed is my go to shoe, great comfort and stability. I just ordered Wilson Rush Pro 2.5. TW had sale on these so under $40 this was no brainer even if they turn out just so-so.

I wonder if TW calls the Uber3's medium because they're not wide throughout. Their toe box is wide, but they taper in back to the heel. This is perfect for me personally, but folks who want the whole shoe wide might have trouble.
