Wozniacki's match today.... (vs Wozniak)

Hoping somebody can shed light on this, the BBC livetext is reporting that Wozniacki spent up to 4 minutes arguing an out call when setpoint down against Wozniak.
Can anyone who saw the match comment on this? It sounded like she was trying to knock Wozniak off her rhythm (and successfully too). FO crowd booed her quite a bit it seems.

The BBC livetext is here. Comments at 1210.

Anyone shed any more light? Just curious cos that would be really poor showing if true...

The live text describes it well enough really.
She did pointlessly argue for quite a while, maybe a combo of being frustrated / attempting to put off the opponent.
I think she was trying to get the linesperson that didn't call it out to check the mark after disagreeing with the chair umpire. Stood up at the net posturing...
Wozniak still could have won that set but she made some bad decisions I think.

Thanks.
Disappointed that Wozniacki would do that. Indeed, it was up to Wozniak to stay focussed.

Woz had better be careful with that and not overdo it, the French crowd don't like that. Remember what happened to Hingis.

Yes, but the French crowd are mostly ridiculous, that is when they bother to turn up and actually watch.

Fickle and pathetic, they should be ignored and wound up as much as possible (see Murray in a recent tournament against Simon).

I was watching and she acted like a brat and it was totally planned and classless. Unfortunately, it worked.

Chair Ump should have immediately acted and taken control but she let her go on and on.

Saw a bit of the second set; I thought Wosniak should have won the second set to take the match into a decider; Caroline really didn't play all that well especially in that second set. However I had to leave my house during the breaker and hence missed the "argument". Think Caroline would still have pulled it out in the end but the match was rather untidy and disappointing, especially when you consider that she is the top-rated women's player.

Caro argued that if the line judge saw the slow lob in and the chair umpire wasn't sure enough to call it out at first, either, then the lines judge should have the chance to get up and show what he believed to be the right mark.
I didn't like Caro arguing so much but I don't think it was for 4 minutes, either. Her adidas coach, Sven Groeneveld compares her to McEnroe who also needed to argue his frustrations out when he disagreed with a call in order to reach the right mental state to play on. I don't know if that's a proper comparison but I'm glad Caro doesn't swear or smash water bottles with her racket!

Players seem to be figuring Wozniacki out more and more and she is struggling on the clay. She is in a very tough section. I would be surprised if she even gets to the semis.

I thought the line judge called it out but could be mistaken. It was clearly out.

I don't think it had anything to do with getting her mind together but was intended to bother her opponent, which it did

Piotr was also downplaying expectations before 1R, frankly admitting Caro's game is better suited for HC and grass. It's her being #1 without a slam and the WSs currently being out that's gotten so many people hyped about Caro winning FO. But if she faces Stosur in QF she'll be underdog in my eyes, Sam's game is simply better suited for clay. Judging by Kuznetsova's winning scores so far she could be plenty tough in R16 also. I know she's been wobbly lately but so she was two years ago just before she won FO.

Yeah, I thought it was unclassy to argue for that long, similar to Nadal last year WTF against Berdych. Chair ump should have taken control, and Woz should have stopped arguing once the other Woz pointed out that the ball was clearly out.

scootad.

Sad choke in the 2nd set tiebreak, Alexandra had, what 4 set points? Sad yet emblematic of women's tennis unfortunately.

Wozniak really hasn't had a look at anything in a while. At this point it's an accomplishment to be in the main draw...

Not to be rude, but I'm still shocked how dumb Wozniak played that tie breaker, if you don't believe me, go watch replay of that TB, there are so many stupid shot selections and Caroline just pushed back lol..

LOL. That is what I always expect Wozniacki to do. She plays some of the most unimpressive tennis I have ever seen. She has a powderpuff forehand and her backhand (her good shot) is struck with some atrocious looking form.

I saw it.

Wozniacki started arguing, chair looked at the mark and called it out( confirmed by hawkeye). Wozniacki asked for the lineman to come forward and show it to the chair, did not happen. It was not 4 mint. Maybe 2 min max.

Pam Shriver later called it gamesmanship.

I despise the broad. She did not deserve to win that match.

Her opponent, Wozniack from Canada, only minutes ago accepted an out call that was confirmed IN by hawkeye. DId not argue, went straght back to play.

I was lol'ing when Fred Stolle kept talking about Caroline's great retrieving in the tiebreak after she had just popped back balls that Wozniak kept hitting straight to her.

Saw a clip and it was not 4 mins as originally described in the live text. It was a poor show though, seemed like she wanted to put Wozniak off. The FO crowd does not suffer fools gladly though, she should be careful.

I think it's become a "cool thing" to say Wozniacki is a pusher. I have no interest in her, or the WTA, but I caught the end of that match and she wasn't pushing. She went for some really ballsy shots and bc I hear how "pushy" she is, I was impressed.

People on here confuse being a good defender and instantly label it as pushing. There were some points where she hit some good Bh winners late in the 2nd. In the TB in particular on one of the set points, Canadian Woz hit about 3 or 4 good FH's to the Danish Woz's FH, but Woz still got them back which eventually led to an UE. I know it's frustrating to watch, and some on here are biased b/c they hate playing against pushers. But she does play a game that wins against most of the field. And she is a great defender, which gets overlooked on here and labeled as 'pushing'.

It's not cool either to push or say someone is pushing. It's just showing displeasure when you see it.

And dont confuse defending with pushing.

Someone who is most of the time defending, or barely ever turns a defending situation into attack, is not defending, s/he is pushing.

That end of the match all she did was throwing the ball back, like she does most of the time.

K well we both saw the match and will have to agree to disagree. She was being aggressive and hitting the ball hard from side to side, Wozniak was playing great and staying in the points as long as she could and was getting slugged around.

Caroline Wozniacki is the queen of gamesmanship. The computer's world No. 1 will do anything to win a match. Or so it seems.

Today, in the second set of her match against Canadian Alexandra Wozniak, a player on the mend from injury, a player who's always given the Polish Dane fits even though she's never beaten her in a completed match, down 3-6 in the second set tiebreak, the actress decided to perform. Badly.

"Why didn't you call it out in the first place?" was the last question the actress asked of the chair umpire after challenging the umpire's eyes on a crucial overrule that gave Wozniak all those set points.

Prior to that question, the actress improvised a horrid scene that went on for far too long, an intentional ploy to throw off her opponent's rhythm.

It worked. She won (or, more accurately, Wozniak lost, missing shots she hadn't missed all day) the next 5 points, the set and match, and that was that.

Pam Shriver called it a "bit of gamesmanship." Way beyond a bit, but at least she called her out. Then she criticized the chair umpire for allowing the argument to go on as along as it did, adding more ice to the hottest player in the tiebreak. Can always depend on Pammy Poo to tell the truth. Good for her.

Now tell me. Why does the computer's world No. 1 need to rely on such bulls... in order to win a match?

Because she knows she's a fraud. And her thigh is taped. And her daddy can't come out onto the court when she's down in a third set to tell her what to do.

That's why.

And save the "you're such a hater" comments. I'm not interested. What the WTA doesn't need is a player with the faux integrity of Justine Henin at the top of the charts, no matter how sweet a backhand. The actress doesn't even have that.

There. I said it.

Now I'm going to take a shower. The sun came out today for the first time in two weeks. It's hot. I'm sweaty. And I've got dinner to cook. See you in the morning.

Lol this guy is such a tool.

Read some other posts as well. It is utter garbage and this guy has his head lodged up Rafa's famous ass.

At least he's honest enough to admit he's a fanatic. Trying to make him modify an opinion is like trying to make a religious fanatic admit not every word in the Bible/Quran is the God given truth.
