Xbox System with Top Spin.

I currently have a PS2. Should I purchase Top spin and a xbox? Is the game really good? Is it addictive? Is it like Sega tennis, where every shot goes in, and all you can do is Lob or hit it. Is top spin 2 coming out? Is the tennis game like virtua tennis, like there's fake names, fake tournaments? Are there Masters series? And a end of the year Master Series Championship for top 8 players?

Its rather good....

I've played it for a while, almost number one in the ranking.

Pros:
It has a nice career mode where you start as a low ranking player and try to get to number one.

Graphics and sound wise is very good.

Real Players have similiar playing styles to the real counterparts (Pete uses Serve and Volley alot)

Has real players.

Good rallies.

Cons:
Career mode doesn't allow to play doubles.

Easy (I thought so)

No official tournaments.

Cant do kick serves (at least I'm not able to)

Easy to keep the ball in play.

General:
Serves often go long if you try for the corner or the T.
4 types of strokes, (lob, slice, top, flat)

IF you should buy it? Well, the xbox is rather cheap right now, I wouldn't buy it jsut for this game, but if there are a couple more you like along with TopSpin, then you should, if it's only for TopSpin, stick with your PS2

Should I buy the system for just Top Spin? Is TOP SPIN 2 Coming out? does anyone know anything about top spin 2? What other games are good for Xbox?

If only for TS, I would say no. There aren't any big games coming out for the XBox that aren't on the PS2.

I have no idea about TS2, do a search for it on google.

I would say wait for the XBox2 :)

smash court tennis 2 is out for the ps2 and I have it, it is an excellent game. I just got topspin but haven't played it long enough to see which is better. If you want a tennis game, smash court tennis 2 is a great selection.

You CAN do kick serves in Topspin. You need more than 3 stars on your serve to do them effectively. The more the better. Serve with the topspin button and hold down+left or down+right (or just straight down if you want a kicker in the middle of the box). Also adding "ace" as a skill will make ALL serves better, including the kicker.

Topspin is simply the best tennis game on the planet, and is likely to only be surpassed by it's sequel. If you're a tennis nut, this game alone is worth buying an X-box.

pusherman,
thanks for your comment. Do you also have ps2? Did you buy xbox for just TOP SPIN? What other games are good for Xbox? Halo and Halo 2? what other games are good exclusively made for Xbox. I appreciate your comments.

Yes, I have a PS2, but it doesn't get much play these days. In this home, X-Box is king. I don't just play Topspin either. My library features the usual lineup of racing simulators, FPS (first person shooters, for the noobs), and fighting games. Although my favorite fighting game is on the PS2. Guilty Gear X2.

Halo is an obvious choice if you're into the FPS thing. It will be a good warmup for Halo 2, which will be a blast with online play. Definitely one of my favorite X-box titles.

Anyways, if you have cable, check out g4techtv to get up to speed on the latest and greatest for the X-box.

A fellow fighter :) Damn the time I have 'wasted' on that game :)

Any idea if the Street Fighter 3 series are coming to the PS2 or XBox? I bought a Dreamcast just for it but damn piece of crap broke after 2 months...

The XBox has some nice games, but it all depends on your tastes.

Most big games (EA series, Activision stuff, etc) are available for box XBox and PS2 and others, so these games aren't really something to discuss, but I do believe there are some small gems on the XBox that are worth a look.

Try gamespot (www.gamespot.com) for a rather complete list of XBox games.... just don't go for their reviews as they are brutally biased towards certain companies.

BSousa,
are you looking for dreamcast system? I have one for a cheap price, it comes with Virtua Tennis and controller. Just trying to help you with that Street Fighter game.

Top Spin is good, but once you get the hang of it, you will win easily. It goes like this: Serve wide, follow in to hit the volley to the open court. Works every time. But it's a good game if you have a friend to play against!

Top Spin 2 is in the making, there's talk about a Christmas release. They have some flaws to fix, too many to mention here.

Good point. Even on hard, you'll handle the computer with no problems. Use these same tactics against a human opponent online, and you'll get burned.

I don't have Live, but my buddy has been trying to get me to sign up. You just buy the $50 kit and that's all you need... that and a broadband/dsl connection. I think that gives you 1 year of access.
