Yet another example of the silly ranking system (this time ATP)

While the ATP rankings dont have nearly the problems of the WTA yet another example of the stupid ranking system in general is Djokovic even after today is not mathematically guaranteed the year end #1 ranking. Now dont get me wrong, I dont think there is anyway Djokovic wont end the year #1. However in theory if Nadal were to enter a tournament every week until the end of the year and win each, including sweeping the WTF, and Djokovic were to miss the rest of the year with an injury or to rest, would Nadal deserve the year end #1 this year? Of course not, not with Djokovic holding 3 Slams and 5 Masters.

The WTA ranking system is even worse than the ATP so little wonder how something like Wozniacki's #1 ranking is questioned when she hasnt made a slam final in 2 years, lost to players ranked outside the Worlds top 20 in all 4 slams this year, and isnt even that consistent (losing early in many events).

Well it is all about number. Computer doesn't care about wins vs loses. Look at the other side, rafa lost to Novak in six finals so he still has ton of points from it.
It is highly improbable but it will not happen. I still see federer might lose his #3 ranking to Murry.

Federer is defending some points, murray is defending a win in shanghai but federer got the final there, he won in Basel - will be interesting to see if Djokovic plays again or skips - plus i think stockholm? and of course WTF. I think Federer has more points to defend.

I believe Murray is ahead of Federer in the Race, which is just points from this year. Murray is an excellent indoor player, and I definitely dont see Federer defending his WTF (actually I think Murray is more likely to win that then Federer if anything). So I also see Murray ending the year #3.
