You can blame Social Media for “Next Gen” failing

Federer , Nadal and Djokovic do what they do for one reason....because social media didnt exist when they were storming up the rankings and playing the game they loved, they just incorporated it when it was created and now use it sparingly.

Next Gen however i feel go to a tennis court to train ( being filmed of course so it can be put on to social media to show the world they are training ) play a shot.....go over to the net, check their smart phone to see how many more likes and followers they have got , back to the baseline, play another shot ....”oh can you get my phone and film me hitting this power forehand because i look so good doing it “
They prefer likes and follows to slams and titles. Rather sad really and because of this I fear we won’t ever see players like the big 3 again.......ever!
If anyone disgarees with the social media argument, just look at Kyrgios..... prime example of a talented player that would rather get attention on social media than use his abilities to win slams

A lot of this is true. A lot.

But they are not standstill you fool. All 3 players are key players in their teams. In fact, all are generational talents that tennis never has these days.

The best RB in the football world right now is a 22-year-old dude, not one of the best, but the best.

Finally, please have a look at France squad at World Cup 2018, and check their ages.
My point is 100% correct, a football team can still win if one of their players stands still or gets sent off, if Zverev stands still he loses. Argument destroyed

It’s a known fact that multitasking results in less productivity and more errors. But if you must do multitasking, you better be a female as men really suck at it.
But it's not multitasking if you're less productive and make more mistakes. That's called failing multiple tasks simultaneously.

As for the whole male / female, a cursory search on the topic would suggest that it's not the case. It's that women typically try or are forced to do more work at the same time because people think women are better at multitasking.

Why doesn't the WTA have problems with social media? WTA has young winners all over the place

it's strange. There's more to it than just social media

Because WTA greats dissapear quicker to have some babies.

If Big 3 had become pregnant, NextGen could have taken some slams already.

Awful thread.
Once they complained that books spoiled the younger generation, then radio, TV, cable TV, internet, social media, smart phones etc. You can read the Greek philosophers and they were complaining about the younger generation even in those days. The reason for the complaints keeps changing, but what is constant is that old has-been will always complain about young people and think that they have the same faults that their own parents complained about when they themselves were young.

This....

The leading young players do not become stars by standing still and let others do the job. They don't score 20-40 goals or making 10-20 assists if they stand still. That's it. They will quickly get booted out of the first 11 if they stand still.

And football (and other popular team sports) is way more representative of how societies actually function than tennis, since footballers usually have to work as a team, and they have way more diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
