Hey Croatian - glad to see you back and in the coolest bistro around. Fee is the social one - I just pour the ale. LOL. I'm going nuts waiting for the season, but I hope you make this a regular stop on your travels.
Just got up for a bit to give my cat his shot, so back to bed I go. Take care all!! :)

Okay, so is it CanadianChic (pronounced sheek, like stylish/hip/chic) or is it pronounced chick like young chicken/young bird?

OR is the ambiguity part of the chic-ness?

Hmmm..I love the ambiguity option - but when I thought of it I was thinking chic (due to my amazing hipness of course) and pronounced chick so people wouldn't think I was a guy. Yeah, it happened regardless. LOL

Personally, I'd pay money to see the look on Phil's face when he discovers that 'CanadianChic' is actually a 263 pound 57 year old truck driver from Texas who wears size 14 boots just having a little internet fun.

Deuce posted the above on a different thread and although some posts on this board make me laugh 'til I cry, nothing struck me as funny as this one. Priceless! Absolute gem!! It's weird how we create visuals for those we can't see, eh? :)

Hey, glad you stopped in. :) I'm still reading my Civil War epic (it'll take a while to get through it I'm afraid). Heard The Lighthouse is pretty good.

Hey Shooter - can Klippy cuddle your poochie?? LOL, ahh, it's the little things in life that make me giggle.

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad

Good Thread CanadianChick

Oh, you must have missed the sign on the wall by the front door: No peeing in our Cheerios.

Yes.

Hey ladies (Fee and CC) and everyone!
Fee, I gladly accepted your invitation to stop by the cafe ;-) I wasn't around the boards for some time, didn't feel like it, but now I'm back and right in the middle of the most boring period at TW (boring in terms of tennis I mean). Guess it's good we have a place to hang while waiting for AO ;-)

Since I'm new here...for now I'll just have a cold Guinness and try to blend in with the crowd
Cheers!

Hey woman! Good to see you. MMMMmmmm Guinness. I'll have one later when I get over my seasonal egg nog fix.

Could we get a bigger picture? So far it looks like Ben Stiller but I don't think so.

Hello.

Are you the owner? ...... My name is Bullworth; Senator Jay Bullworth.

Please call me Jay.

"Drunk, blue-nosed Santas, with whiskey they're smitten
"S.W.I." raps laid on Donner and Blitzen
'Totaling his sleigh, sleighbells no longer ring
Santa got trashed, then took reindeer to wing."

Lost are the toys that ol' Saint Nick did promise
Sprouting a generation of now 'doubting-Thomases'"
Lost in the sauce, Kris Kringle tries hard to cling
Slides off the chimney, and lands on the swings

Falling off rooftops, of suburban Tudors
Guard dogs treat Santa like he's an intruder
God roars his laughter, they hear him in France:
'Thank ME, for robes, or I'd **** in my pants!' "

Ms. Chic, may I have this dance?

I have a job interview tomorrow, but its for a job I don't really want for a salary that is way too low.

Why are you interviewing for the job Fee? Money aside, is this something you can start to enjoy? If not, I say scrap it!! Life is too short to spend unhappy in an unsuitable work environment (but this is coming from someone who loves her job). :p

I remember that joke being told by the Unknown Comic in the movie Night Patrol. That movie was sooo funny. Mr Miagi (spelling??? form karate kid) was in it and he had a little girls voice. Too funny!

Well, I am interviewing to see what it might be like in case it's worth putting up with a few months of low pay on the chance that I will eventually get the pay I deserve. It's a panel interview, so I just don't think it will go that well any way, but I haven't interviewed anywhere in so long that it will be good practice in case I get to interview for the one I really want. To clarify, this is the job that I want, I just don't think I want to work in this particular office for this particular person. Perhaps I'll feel completely different after I meet with them. I don't know.

Yeah I hear ya. Panel interviews especially are a pain. I had a very long hiring process for my job - it took a couple of months anyway. I hope you get it!! You can always move on down the line if it's not what you hoped it would be.
Good luck - but I don't think you'll need it - you'll wow 'em!

I have this short tale to share with the "morning drunks" crowd here:

"Once upon a time there lived a young man, and he married a wealthy old woman. They lived happily together for some time, and when he died, the old woman inherited all his money".

Oh my Drak, I gave you a free Carlsberg for that. Hmm..I want another one - and don't you be chirpin' me!! Haha.

Hey Fee, if you come into the bar tonight, I want to hear how your interview went. If I don't see you - well, it is Winter Solstice after all. I think in light of the occasion, all the patrons should remove their unnecessary coverings and dance.

LOL - cute Drak. Here's one for you.....

Santa Claus makes his way down the chimney, and is met by a lovely young woman in a robe.
She says "Santa, how about giving me a special present. I know you'd like to come into my bedroom."
Santa responds "Ho! Ho! Ho! Gotta go. Gotta go. Gotta deliver all these toys to the children you know."
The lovely young thing peels off her robe, revealing a skimpy negligee. Santa looks up from his sack of gifts, and she says "I've got something special for you Santa. Can't you stay for just a little while? I know you want me. Let me make this Christmas eve unforgetable."
Santa responds "Ho! Ho! Ho! Gotta go. Gotta go. Gotta deliver all these toys to the children you know."
Not to be denied, she strips off the negligee, revealing her naughty bits, and they were quite nice naughty bits, I might add. And she says "Santa, this is your last chance. This body is your gift."
Santa responds "Hey! Hey! Hey! Gotta stay. Gotta Stay. Can't get up the chimney with my "manhood" this way!"

Sure he does - who is the guy who visits me on Christmas Eve with special gifts if not Santa? Damn, I really need to get those locks changed!!

Fee

I know!! I had a guy coming over every night when my husband was gone, telling me he was Santa. Now I feel silly...

So, the interviews...
Yesterday, I called one of the offices I had faxed my resume to and left a message for the Chief of Staff. He called me back today (interrupted my phone call with Justin) and told me that he wasn't hiring, but I should call this other office because they are looking for someone just like me (based on my resume). Weird, I didn't know this guy at all, but I called that office, sent over my resume, and lined up a second interview right after the first one!

So I had two interviews. I don't know how they went, to be honest. All I know is that I felt somewhat liberated because I decided to be pretty honest (about the situation at two previous offices) and I decided to be myself, plain and natural. I told both interviews that I am a goofy dork, but I am hardworking and productive, and I know my stuff when it comes to this position. There it is, take me or leave me. I think I will definitely be called back for one of the second interviews, and I might be called back for the other office. If not, I don't care. Its not personal. Not everyone on this planet can appreciate the joys of having a hard working goofy dork in their presence.

Then I picked up Wendy's for dinner, and opened a Red Tail Ale. I'll dance later....

So how did y'all celebrate the shortest day of the year?

Glad to hear it went well...honesty is always best. There's a special little dance I do at work when I work nights that has become quite legendary. I believe in working your butt off but there's no reason to not have a blast in the process.
Not too much, did some shopping (still not finished yet) and picked up a hundred dollars worth of treats and toys for my little angel only to be greeted with a growl and swipe at the leg when I came home. Typical guy - he's been a big ol' grump the last few days. LOL
Now, I'm going to have a steaming hot shower and pour myself a Creamed Maple for a nightcap. :)

Love Wendy's, but there was a huge lineup so I suffered through a dinner of rotten Ronnie's.

So how did y'all celebrate the shortest day of the year?

First, I treated myself with not going to the final lecture of 2006. :) (Why kill the holiday mood by going to college!?)
The rest of the day wasn't exactly a celebration...I was stuck for hours at the supermarket shopping for groceries. There were a million people there, along with even more children running around, and I was sure I was gonna run over one of those kids with the shopping cart. Luckily it didn't happen.
Shopping before Christmas drives me nuts.
Anyways, I don't know how but we came home with more liquor than food :-D (but, in our defense, we didn't buy it all...it's cause here it's a custom to give your business partners high quality wines or whiskey or something like that for Christmas..so my dad got a lot of it that way). I'm just happy I bought myself some Kilkenny :)
I did my round of dancing in the evening at step aerobics class. Does that count, or I still have to get on the table and dance here? (if I recall well someone here mentioned Fee dancing on tables hehe)
