I just started a new job in Redmond. I'm looking for folks who can hit during the week at Grasslawn (or CP or Proclub if you're a member and can get me in) at 6:30ish.
Nice. Let's do it some time in the coming weeks at CP. My son's working me hard to get him ready for his school tennis team so all my time is spent working with him on the courts.
I'll give you a yell probably some time later next week?
were you guys able to get together for a hit?
Would you guys all really hit together? Without knowing each other?
I can probably do it, just give me a time and date, and shoot me an e-mail!anyone else up for it?
Okay, with apologies to TheShaun, it appears we can get four of us together in the Seattle/Eastside area, those being diredesire, tennisp13, travlrajm, and me. If you guys want to try and arrange a time, I can try and grab a court at Central Park (it's been really, REALLY busy recently) or we can hit at Grass Lawn, Robinswood, Amy Yee, UW, or one of the school courts (Redmond Jr. High).
Documentation of the event via camcorder, while I'm sure totally embarrassing for me, would be fun! You guys can hit with my 13 ounce granny stick!
Hey guys, any of those place is fine. Brain freeze question, where is Central Park. Yeah, set it up, it going to rain soon, or we may have to play indoor.
How about this weekend, or next weekday
Uh, camera, hehehe. It would be funny watching myself try to blast the ball and miss. Cheer guys. Anything 13 ounce is good to hit.
Phillip/Phu
AAAH!!!
If you guys make any solid plans just shoot me an e-mail, I rarely see this thread
FYI: I work at Nordstrom Tennis Center (on UW Campus), so if you want to hit there after 6:00 I can open the doors (it is closed after 5:45). We'll have the place to ourselves!
Keep me posted, I probably won't have a car, so UW campus is easiest for me by far ;P
Oh yeah, no charge obviously. Just don't tell anyone
Edit: I can also bring by a guy or two who also visits this board, but infrequently...
Edit2: I am free after the ~21st. I'll be out of town from the 19th - 21st approximately. I should be available the rest of the week to play. After that, NTC resumes its regular fall hours. Can anyone make it the weekend of 22-23?
Hey, this sounds like the best plan. I'm available on the 22nd, and then I[m out of town all of the next week. If you're absolutely sure this is not going to be a problem in any way, how about we just plan for 6 p.m. on the 22nd?
TheShaun, SeaTac is kind of at the hub of the worst traffic in the area, and I've never played there so I don't know of any courts near there. I think it's probably going to be better for someone coming from the Tacoma side than the Seattle side.
Midlife, can you get a group e-mail going with details on the meet? At 6:30 would be better, as most people would be long gone from the tennis center then.
My e-mail address is diredesire @ hotmail, please shoot me one and we can get some details going!
Johnny
ahh, i'm so jealous. i wish i could join you guys for this one. be sure to take pics.
does the 5th or 8th of october work for anyone?
it's my friends stag weekend. i would make the drive otherwise.
his wedding is in seattle on the 6th. but my girlfriend is flying in for the weekend so i won't be able to take time away to play. that's why i can play either on the 5th before she arrives or on the 8th after she leaves.
what ntrp are you guys? i could be kidding myself, trying to play with you. i would guess mine to be a 3.0 -3.5.
Sounds like you're in for a bit of fun too!
travlrajm would be competitive at the 5.0 level. I've played a couple of very close league matches against two guys who are a combined 9-1 or 10-1 in 4.5 doubles and singles. I played against travlrajm a couple of years ago when I was just getting back into tennis and though I'm playing better now, he was and is still clearly better than I am. I haven't hit with any of the others.
No matter your level, it'll be fun just to get together for a hit. If nothing else, it'll give you an insight into what it takes to get to whatever level the others are playing at, and for that reason I'm dying to hit again with travlrajm and everyone else.
Will do. I've got you, tennisp13, travlrajm (I have your old email address and don't know if it still is good). Gmedlo, you're in Puyallup and sounds like you're in high school. Do you want to join us? TheShaun, sounds like you're too far away.
Anyone else? If so, email me and I'll get you on the list. I'll send out the first email tonight just to make sure they go through, and I'll add people as I get notified.
You can park right in front of the tennis center for free since it's after 12:00 on Saturday.
Sorry, no shower unless diredesire can smuggle you into the team locker room.
Well, I've been rooting through the garage for cool racquets to bring. I've got an Ergonom, a T2000, a Jack Kramer woodie with SPPP, POG from the middle 1980's, a Wilson Ultra II Mid, an AMF Graphite Edge, a Prince Precision Graphite with the fiber bridge, and a Chang Longbody strung with a P2/Megaforce hybrid.
Anybody have any cool racquets? Maybe if everyone brings a woodie, we can have a wood racquet tournament. . .
Let's discuss lockers after we get there. I don't want to be held liable for things I write on a message board
I don't have anything interesting. I'm interested in checking out the T2k and the ergonom, though. Are you interested in selling your chang? My friend is looking for an extended length racquet..
Hey Midlife,
I'm the friend that's interested in the extended length racket. Yeah I'll be there. Just graduated from UW, lots of free time. Looking forward to meeting everyone!
