Djokovic changed his forehand technique?!

Despite his frist round loss, i found very interesting watching his match against Gulbis. Is it me or he really changed his forehand.I need help of someone who is more experienced to determine is it correct or not.For me, it looks like he changed the grip, so the swing is much shorter, stroke is more powerfull and more 'economic':), and it looks like he don't need to put too much effort to do it.I heard also that he changed the strings, so feel free to discuss, i'm really excited to talk about this thread.
By the way his serve is awful now:(

I pointed that out once I saw the video... Its worth looking into it, maybe new racket?

Edit: He lost his first match? Woah, did not see that... Hmm, maybe the racket might do him some bad rather than good.

I don't think he changed anything. The video posted is him warming up. You guys are reaching.

How about this>>> he got beat. Period.

His excuses (from his interview) are better:

1. I changed a lot of things and are not used to all of them
2. I'm playing with a new racquet
3. I arrived too late at the venue
4. I didn't train enough

Professional tennis player?

I agree. I didn't see the match, but Gulbis is very dangerous. I saw it before the match, a possible upset.

Definitely, he got his *** kicked...life goes on.
So much about the same frame, different PJ stuff...

As for the comment #2 -- I think the racket already did him a lot of good (read $$$) :)

^^^LOL one of his special dance moves.

The white pj doesn't suit him, not as intimidating as the kblade pj.

I wanted to go with some serious discussion, not trashing Nole, i know he played bad, maybe he just forgot to play tennis:)

Yeah, what's so astonishing about a loss to Gulbis (which has no place in this section by the way)? The guy is one of the most dangerous players on tour when he's on.

He needs a new haircut. That one looks horrible. Maybe he should go with an $800 haircut? :)

That loss should secure Federer's ranking going into Austrailia. And, Federer is looking in good form, his backhand looks back to it's best and his serving is really good. Also, the forehand seems to be back to what it was in 2007 and not faultering like it was last year.

The reason Djokovic lost is because he is using that loser green/white gear again. :) Bring back black and gold from TMC.

why is he doing this. why couldn't he tell himself if it ain't broke don't fix it? Fed isn't changing 2 much. well i guess he is getting paid. good for him but I'd rather be a pro winning and making $2000 then a player lossing and looking like a fairy making $20,000 but thats just me.

He only needs to start beating good players...

I started a thread yesterday titled something like "Djokovic is going to get this b0tt0m kicked..." predicting that Gulbis will beat him.

Mysteriously, the thread has now been taken off after less than 24 hours.

I reckon he should have cop that defeat like a man...no one forced you to change rackets, no one forced you to turn up late, no one forced you not to train enough...so please don't use such excuses to justify your loss. It takes a lot of credit out of how Gulbis performed.

Serena and Venus Williams do that a lot in post-match confererences saying how they are this and that and seldom, if ever, give credit to their opponents.

And word has it that despite Djokovic turning up only the day before the tourney started, he had time to play 9 holes of golf. So please stop whining Nole...

Does Brisbane matter...?

I think some of us are making a big deal out of something that may not be as significant as we think.

It is very easy to over analyze Djokovic's loss...when in the grand scheme of things it may not matter too much.

It's a small tournament, the only thing he really lost was a chance to take over the number 2 spot from Federer, but he has an entire season to do that, so i doubt he is worried about this match.

However, if Djokovic shows up at the AO looking just as apathetic, tired and playing just as sluggishly then there will be cause for concern...as we will all see that his form in Brisbane was indicative of his form in Melbourne.

I doubt that will happen, the joker is going to be as ready as possible to defend his title.

In other words Brisbane was an expendable tournament.

Kudos to Gulbis! He's going to be dangerous this year.

This win just only fuels his danger level for the AO IMO. People should watch out, maybe he'll be this years upset player at the AO. Baghadatis -> Gonzalez -> Tsonga -> Gulbis? :)

If Djokovic was smart, he would pack up those Head Rackets and send them back with the check. Obvious for his game they are inferior to the Kblade's.

Like Safin said when he tried to change rackets, I can't play with this piece of X.

Serve is a problem, but i noticed that forehand is much more powerfull, deeper, maybe not so consistent, so what do you think if it's up to his racquet, ot just lack of practise.

He probably didn't change his grip during his pro career...The pic is pretty cool. I don't like the new racquet so much; I think that he should have stayed with Wilson.

300 posts FTW!

looks like a smaller racquet head. Also he seems to get less power from it...But i think he just played very poorly, lets see his next macthes

HE'S STILL GETTING USED TO THE NEW LOOK, GOSH.

I used to complain about my racket when I lost a match... when I was seven.
