The thing about indoors is that while it doesn't necessarily hinder Nadal's game, it makes his opponents more comfortable in going for their shots. To beat Nadal, you need to be fully aggressive in your approach to the match. It's easier to do that when the conditions aren't present. More players would feel comfortable playing against Nadal indoors as his defense wouldn't be as impenetrable as it would be outdoors.

I think that if Federer holds the No. 1 ranking after the US Open, he will go on a tear during the indoor season looking to end the year ranked No. 1. I fully expect him to win the WTF again, so I don't think Nadal would gain any ground against Federer should they meet there again this year.

well now it is not so important, half the guys are out of gas or injured by that time of the year, last year was a perfect example, nole and rafa had nothing left in the tank, another was injured can't remember who, maybe it was murray, it was a joke, then Federer goes onto win and everyone in this forum makes it seem like the greatest title ever lol, it is a joke compared to the olympics.

Please! Olympic tennis is only considered something of importance (kind of) NOW because Nadal has something Federer doesn't. The format of the Olympics makes it only slightly more difficult to win than a MS1000 event and, in reality, you could win the event without having to face one Top 8 player. The difference which makes the Olympics prestigious is that athletes are competing against people and teams they wouldn't normally play against. The field is much different from what those athletes are normally used to. For many, they're representing their country for the first time. In tennis, this is the norm. The Olympics doesn't feature any different kind of a field than a slam or a Masters; it's simply another event on the calendar.

Nadal is oviously dominant on the slower surfaces of FO and AO.
On the faster surfaces - well, no h2h at USO, and Nadal is 1-2 at Wimby.
Closest we have to indoor GS is WTF, and Nadal has fared poorly there. Partly because of the surface, and partly because of it being scheduled at the end of the year.
For the sake of argument, let's say AO and WTF were switched around in terms of schedule, and in terms of slam status. How would Nadal do against Fed at the beginning of the year on WTF courts with it having slam status? Well, I think he would do better than his record at WTF suggests, but Federer would still have the edge. Nadal would certainly not "dominate".

As much butthurt as Federer is over Nadal. With the roof closed at Wimbledon Fed would have a good chance to beat ******. With the roof open all bets are off.

last time i checked rosol has no slams, or considered to be an all time great, sometimes you need to think a little lol
All of those were played outside. There's nothing to indicate that Nadal would beat Federer at an indoor slam, since he's 0-4 against Federer indoors and has only won a single set.
