yes :) i was watching the match online (too lazy to drive the 3 miles to Cone-Kenfield). something unusual occurred. The Tulsa player did delay, and was talking to a coach off the court - it appeared she may have been injured, or simply broke down in tears having lost the previous point.

how are you by the way?

hmm could have a been a Time Violation, point penalty.
Horrible way to end a match, feel bad for her and the team.

That would never happen to Stanford player. Mental toughness is their strength

My early diagnosis on UNC this year—very solid team, had championship potential, but Jessie Aney lost her mojo completely and in tough matches couldn't get it done, and despite some flashes of brilliance and a big win in the ACC title game, Alle Sanford didn't live up to the hype in year one and was particularly bad under pressure. Good as you may be in other areas, you can't start a big match at an 0-2 deficit and hope to win many. They pulled it off against Duke in the ACC championship, barely, but any slip-ups and it's all over. And you're never going to have 0 slip-ups over the course of four matches in the NCAAT. It makes the doubles point imperative, but even then you're in a tight spot. Today, Graham and Oullette-Pizer lost the big points, especially in the second set, and rock-solid play from Daav and Jones, which they've displayed all year, didn't matter.

A shame. But everyone's coming back, and hopefully things will be more steady next year.

uncs future is looking very bright! Girls are coming back more experienced then

Anyone know what happened on court 4? I'm hearing reports that a coach said something and it got the match defaulted for the Tech player.
WHAT ?????????????????????????? Did Chen do something to **** off the Umpire like threaten to take his eye out with the tennis ball ?????????????

Okay, friend on site saying initially the match was called off because of something a Tech coach said, and Duke given the point. Now they're bringing them back out and calling it a one-point penalty. That's insane to me. Hope it doesn't screw the Duke player up, she's up a set and 2-0 in what looks like a big match.

Full explanation: Coach had a code of conduct violation due to obscenity, match was "suspended," Tech player sat there crying for 30 minutes. NCAA made the call to remove the coach, replace the ump, assess a point penalty, and keep going.

This is getting a little complicated for Duke. Chi had a point to go up 5-2, instead now it's on serve and 5-4. Harris with some insurance up 3-0 in the third in her match. Nervous times, though it still looks good...

FINAL FOUR, BABYYYYY!!!!

Now time to pray for a Georgia victory against "15-seed" Stanford. Cardinal scare me.

nah, would love to see the duke-stanford match, might as well make it a season to remember - i think duke can hang right in there with stanford, they're playing with some good confidence right now

That should not be an NCAA decision, should be the Head Referee making that decision, default and any removal of an official in current match

WOW,, shuts out tough Georgia team. Cardinal keeps getting better each round just like Federer does at all the majors.

are you going to own up to this post? pulling for both unc and duke is enough to get one arrested around here. no exceptions.

Duke undergrad, went to UNC for one year of grad school. It's all Duke for basketball, but I've seen so much college tennis the last two years between the two schools that familiarity has made me a fan of both. The one team I don't really like, actually, is the Duke men, but that's mostly because their players seem like douches when they show up to the women's matches. But I watch UNC too often to root against them.

Hamlin (Dook), Lord (Card): two superstars who played together for New England on various junior teams. Excellent kids.

Duke was up 5-1 on court 3 in dubs, have now blown FIVE match points. Never been so sure of anything as that if they manage to lose this match and the doubles point, Duke is done.
