2022 Roland Garros Draw

Due in 4 hours.

I will narrow it down:

Nadal's draw largely depends on his R4 and QF.

He could get Sinner or Norrie. Or FAA, Hurkacz.

We know which one we'd prefer....

he could get Djokovic or Tsitsipas in QF (!!), or Medvedev....

he can only play Alcaraz by SF.

Rafa needs to avoid Sinner in R4 (taxing), Djokovic and Tsitsipas in QF (hope for Medvedev).

Djokovic's aligned R4 seeds are all relatively harmless, although Schwartzman could be taxing.

Djokovic's draw fortune/misfortune will come down to his QF, which will be:
Nadal, Alcaraz, or Rublev, Ruud...

The SF is Zverev or Tsitsipas, but obviously could also be Nadal, Alcaraz.

Alcaraz is in the same predicament as Rafa, and too could get Sinner in R4, Djokovic in QF, etc.

Potential landmines:
Fokina, Korda and Kecmanovic (25-32!), unseeded: Musetti, Rune, Thiem, Fognini.

I would prefer Medvedev in qf and Stefanos in semi ( would love if it's Rudd) give me draw full of mugs and keep all Alacaraz, Zverev, Djokovic in one half.

As a Rafa fan, the goal of the draw is:

-avoid Sinner in R4
-avoid Djokovic and Tsitsipas in QF
-avoid landmines below R4 or even QF

-Djokovic and Alcaraz to draw each other/same quarter (QF)
-Alcaraz to draw Sinner (R4)
-Djokovic to draw Schwartzman (R4)
-Tsitsipas to not get off the hook too easy, but he'd be a preferable Finalist opp. over Djokovic and Alcaraz I'd wage

The chances of Nadal and Djokovic being drawn to meet in QFs are slim. Djokovic - Alcaraz is on the cards. If it's Djoko-Nadal QF, that's some evidence that the draws are random.

If Rafa gets Sinner R4 and Djokovic/Tsitsipas in QF, never the less Korda/Rune/Musetti/Fognini or several of early, might as well call it in.

Musetti is the dark horse to win it all this year. he almost won it last year so i expect him to do better this year

Not sure why Sinner is portrayed as very tough. He has never reached a final outside HC.

To be fair, there aren't many players in form right now other than Djokovic and perhaps Alcaraz/ Nadal.

hope i am wrong but seed 1357 shall be in the same half. otherwise what is the use of a seeding system? if so rafa shall play djoker in qf or sf for sure?

What's with all this talk of Sinner being a potentially tough opponent for Nadal?!
Ridiculous really. Rafa's biggest threat this year is Rafa himself, next Djokovic, after that Carlitos...there are no threats anywhere else on site, and I don't mean clay only...

Everyone wants to be drawn into bottom half.
Everyone wants to be drawn into either Rublev's or Ruud's quarter.

Nobody wants to be drawn into top half.
Nobody wants to be drawn into neither Nadal's nor Alcaraz's quarter.

Between Tsitsipas and Zverev who would you prefer?

I think Zverev is a bad match up for Rafa because of his strong serve and backhand. With Tsitsipas atleast he can target the one handed backhand. Also I don't think his backhand slice will bother Rafa much.

considering it's RG, I'd prefer Zverev.

Zverev is a match-up problem but really most dangerous on HC or high-altitude clay for Nadal.

In general, Tsitsipas is simply a tougher out on clay. You wanna play him in the F, not QF.

Agree.. both are mental midgets so meeting either in the Final is preferable.

What fascinates me most is the quality awaiting.

Nadal, Tsitsipas, Djokovic, Alcaraz, Sinner, Zverev, Medvedev, Musetti, Korda, Ruud, Rublev...

Most of these can wreck havoc on each other. By default 3 of them cannot even make the quarterfinal....

never the less additional in-form guys like Rune, Kec, Paul, Schwartzman, Baez, FAA, Fokina, ADM...
