AO 2024: QF Djokovic vs Fritz

First QF match is set. Fritz was the last guy to really stretch Djokovic at the AO in the pre final stage! Can he find enough to go all the way this time?
Novak’s beat down of Manny is not a true indication of his level and so is Fritz over Stef. Form and history and h2h point to the Djoker booking his place in the last 4 vs the Sinner - honestly my most anticipated match of the tourney.

I think Djoker takes this in 4 tight sets.

What did Fritz do in their 2021 AO encounter to make Djokovic tear an abdominal muscle? Maybe he can try that play again.

It's hard to see Fritz winning, but if he plays like today (that's a pretty big if) I could see him making it a 7-6, 5-7, 7-6. 6-4 type scoreline

Players I am looking forward to playing Djokovic or Nadal in a big match:

1. The other one of the 2
2. Alcaraz
3. Sinner

100. Gasquet
….

1000. Taylor ****ing Fritz

I would honestly have preferred it if Stef had got through not because I think he would actually do well but because I enjoy watching Djoker extend that streak against him

What does that have to do with beating Fritz in the fifth set?
That a really injured player can survive a match, but either withdraws from the tournament or his performance declines greatly in the following rounds, unlike someone who can improve in a "miraculous" way in a very short period of time and even less end up being champion of a Major event, tournaments with greater physical demand, without any doubt.

I don’t trust Fritz to pull an upset. I would have given tsitsipas a chance if it was last year… but I also don’t trust him anymore.

I’m hoping to get a sinner-djokovic final that won’t disappoint

Edit: semis of course

Sinner and Djokovic can only meet in the semifinals this time.

Djokovic could commit 100 UEs and Fritz would still lose. As it is, he's gonna get busted as always. After the disgraceful shytshow that was their USO quarterfinal I have little respect left for him as a player anyway.

Federer won W 2012 after injuring his back in the 4th round and getting treatment. He went on to beat Djokovic and Murray back to back.

You need to get over Djokovic taking the slam record from your idol, time to move on.

And who are players who deserve your respect? Fritz mug, Tsitsipas mug, Zverev mug, Rublev mug, Rune mug??? Do you think it's easy to beat the best player in tennis history easily?

According to your logic Federer is king of mugs cause he failed to stop Djokovic.
An apt description for Federer in his elderly decline after 2018 AO. He still came closer to beating Djokovic at 2019 Wimbledon than any of these mugs ever could, except Alcaraz probably.

Is it Djokovic's fault cause Federer eats meat? Don't take from Djokovic what he deserved on court very well. Oldovic > Federer

I think Djoker takes this in 4 tight sets.
It will depend on Novak's serving. If strong and high % first, I'd say straight sets. If struggling on serve (always a possibility with Novak), then I would not be surprised with 4 sets.
I don't think Fritz will be the one to upset Novak, however, after that, it is all 50/50

I remember these two played one tight match in a masters event. Fritz was puzzled from not winning long rallies and some of his good serves being returned with ease. I expect the same but hope he can pull it off by serving outstanding and breaking serve. I always like the underdog to win against Djokovic but i doubt it here.
The thing is Djokovic is just too good and has transitioned from the first big 3 to the new big 3. That's almost impossible to do. And he still plays like 10 yrs ago.

I also heard about an interesting record today. Apparently it's the first time a player wins the first 2 sets 6-0 6-0 in a Grand Slam against a top-20. Never happened in the Open Era until today.

Fritz played very good match against Tsitsipas. Check out his BHDTL winners during the last 4 games, impressive. Novak will have to raise his level, something he of course can do
