I just wouldn't use the term "junkballer".
I wouldn't use that term either ( I don't know if I implied it, but did not mean to)

I agree to some extent, but I can't help but think that until you can do what you preach, you haven't really mastered it yet.
But for beginners he is great, he is also great on the mental and strategical side, I watched several of his videos and enyoyed them. He struggles to create power on both wings, and his serve is a bit weir too.
He is a junkballer because he can't hit powerful lifted shots, be it on the forehand or the backhand. His backhand is a slice, and his forehand is usually simply pushed, it can be short, long, right, left, a lob, but it's never a heavy ball. He is a high level junkballer, but if he isn't one I don't know who is.
You are right - but you can't deny the fact that there's a certain percentage of the population who do believe you have to be a great player to be a great coach and they can't see it any other way.
It does not matter whether it's right or wrong, but people have a tendency to believe certain things to be true...
I wouldn't use that term either ( I don't know if I implied it, but did not mean to)
But whether he's mastered it or not is independent of whether he's a junkballer, no?
He also states that he's had a slice BH for his entire tennis life and is only recently trying to change that. I don't recall him ever claiming he's mastered it.
His BH slice is built on placement and trying to get his opponent in an uncomfortable spot; not power.
I don't see him lacking power on his FH. Is it as powerful as Ira/Kevin/Mark? No. Does that mean he struggles to create power? No.
We have different definitions of junkballer then. "Powerful, lifted shots" is a euphemism for TS. So someone who hits with slice or flat, no matter how hard, is a junkballer to you.
That would actually be an interesting match. Will at FYB played D1 tennis. Both are lefty. Both are about the same age and similar physical shape. Both would try in their own and maybe opposite ways to move the other one where he doesn’t want to be. I’d watch it and am not sure who I would pick. The only youtube coach I would peg him as beating is FYB guy.
Tony Roche was no slouch.Becker and Lendl were about the best players to end up as good coaches.
In my opinion...the more important question is which matchup will get more views? Ian, MEP, TT, and/or others?
I am happy to run an offshore betting market.Folks here have been waiting for @J011yroger vs @MaxTennis forever. But I have been told one of them is holding up for a bigger "payday".

How much would you pay to watch @J011yroger vs me? I’ll send you my Venmo handle and we will make it happen.

are there any videos of you playing? I'd be interested in betting on such a match.
I think folks are ready to pay a lot likes of which we have not seen before. My 002 cents on it.
thats gonna be a great match. How much would you pay to watch @J011yroger vs me? I’ll send you my Venmo handle and we will make it happen.
How much would you be willing to pay? Lol. Anyways, don’t mean to hijack more threads.
i think ian v mep gets many more views... mainly because there are more folks with mep's technique trying to figure out how to play/beat an opponent with player with "trained" strokes like ian.In my opinion...the more important question is which matchup will get more views? slow favors tt? more physical, harder to take the net, etc...TennisTroll is a good friend if mine. I've been on his Channel for 5 videos (6 by the end of the month).
I think if they played, TT would win. He's been improving a lot and we discuss tennis/tactics and strategy a lot. He's also already shown a ton of improvement in the summer months by having a much higher score and even beating people who he struggled with just a few months earlier.
I'd put my money on TT. Court surface does play a factor though.
I don't want the headline to be on how much AnyPUG is willing to pay to watch Max take on Jolly, let's keep our eyes on the ball here - it's that the match up is going to be a huge success from tt perspective.
slow favors tt? more physical, harder to take the net, etc...
fast favors ian? faster points, balls carry more, approach shots more effective, etc...
?
saw that - he got the one at 7:14 right though. The quarantine definitely has altered the way players appreciate a very good shot from the opponents.

I really like your up the T serve! This is my most recent matchplay video. I’m gonna be completely honest and say I haven’t been hitting as much in quarantine so I’m playing way worse than last year haha.

He's my friend and a regular doubles partner so I know he wasn't intentionally trying to cheat. It happens sometimes.
That's fair. I just find it odd how you tagged us on a completely irrelevant thread and then you're dodging the question
sounds juicy, do tell...If you want to talk about dodging, let's do that. The original dodging happened in socal last year.... that's the real dodging.

that's hardly dodging.Lol, it's nothing crazy. I bought tickets months in advance to watch Frozen at the Pantages theater with my mum. Dropped $400 on it. That was the only day that worked for J011y and the crew, unfortunately.
Speaking of missed opportunities, ages ago I wanted to meet and play Max when he came to Costa Mesa (with his dad or something). I think I pm'ed Max but didn't hear back after several hrs and by then I lost interest. Max did return my message though.
I dunno if I'm still crazy about tennis with much younger dudes today. I rather abuse the seniors than being abused. Hahahahaha.
D@mn it looks like Max keeps on improving... Very nice.

also you have a reputation of playing anyone/everyone on here...

Nothing to apologize for, dude. That was a few years ago, and I thought I could catch you and your dad at a court and try a rally or a handicap game with ya (we talked about dub court vs single court, etc. ). It didn't work out. But you did email or pm me back that time though.Apologies for that. DM me and we can sync up again.
I actually played much better back in 2013 than I do now, but I'm still at a pretty good level when I'm hitting a lot. I stopped training during quarantine because, well, there isn't much tennis going on tbh.

it's what happens when you're ttw famous... everyone wants a piece of you. i guess we are called fanatics for a reasonI know, but apparently it doesn't satisfy some people lmfao

It was Christmas Eve on the last day the Long Island crew was in SoCal and @MaxTennis had tickets for Frozen [the stage production, not the movie] with his Mom; i'd hardly call that dodging. I'd call that a no-brainer.

If I recall, it had been raining previous days so Christmas Eve was the only available day.
that would be an interesting match against you too... he played d1 once upon a time. he's been kicking my arse all summer.Haha, speaking of famous, tell Sendhil I'm a big fan of his haha.
If people play sports the "right way" they tend to be competitive and wanting to experience challenges. That's one reason why Max is seeked out. He's very good.it's what happens when you're ttw famous... everyone wants a piece of you. i guess we are called fanatics for a reason

hehe, reminded to find this old thread... https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/ind...tennisadict-vid-evidence.596321/post-11507472 (and vid of you playing back then...)Apologies for that. If I recall, that was when they had the Costa Mesa Futures and there wasn't really enough time, unfortunately. DM me and we can sync up again.
