How many people have seen Federer play in person?

Like a lot of people, I want to see Federer play in person before he retires. I'm realizing I don't have much time left maybe a year or two? I'd love for it to be at Wimbledon. I need to just pony up and go next year!

I was just wondering how many people on here have seen Fed play? What tournament was it? Was it worth the time/effort/money to go?

Seen him in Cinci a few times. Nice, since it's just about the fastest playing surface still around, so his all court skills have often been on full display there.

I saw him play at Wimby a few years ago (just checked, was 2014, seems longer!) :) Had a great day with Nadal, Watson, and Federer all playing on centre court that day.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money, I think the earlier rounds of Wimbledon are always your best shot - specially because of the queue. US Open tickets are not that expensive as well. Totally worth it, of course. I went at the French and the crowd on his matches are awesome (pretty much everywhere, actually). It actually depends a lot on where you live. If you're in South America, your best shot is the Olympics this year (I'm attending it as well) but if you're in Europe or North America you have plenty of options. I once found tickets for the central court of Paris Masters for eight euros on viagogo. Eight euros.

Wish I had seen Nadal back in his prime years, the hate blinded me.
Funny about it. I saw Nadal Playing in 2005 Costa do Sauipe open, where he was pretty much just a "guy to watch for the future", just what people think of Zverev now. I never imagined the guy would sweep almost the entire clay court season and win the French in that very same year.

Saw him beat Massu at IW from so high up I might as well have been in a helicopter. Then got to see him from about 5 ft away playing dubs with Allegro vs Grosjean/Gasquet.
I can even say I stood on the same court as Fed at the same time since I walked out leaving the court as they all did :)

I was at Cinci 2012 and saw him in the QF, SF, and F.

I got really lucky. I bought the tickets early in 2012 when Fed was playing "OK" tennis by his standards. By the time cincy rolled around he was playing at a crazy high level, after winning Wimbledon and then rolling through the cincy draw, bagelling Djokovic in the first set of the final.

That weekend is definitely one of my best sports memories ever.

You need to do it. No excuses. If he retires before you see him play you'll regret it.

Thanks! Yeah, I think early rounds at Wimbledon would be the best idea, because who knows what will happen as the tournament goes on. I live in the US (*******), so there's no tournaments real close. Also, I'm a teacher, so I can't really take off in the middle of the year. Wimbledon is right in the middle of the summer, though.

I've seen Fed 5 times at Wimbledon. Perfection. (apart from when he lost to Berdych) I've also seen him warming up twice and hitting on the outside courts, and that's similarly spine-tingling.

Many times including the first time he played Nadal. :D

Yes, by all means every tennis fan should see him in person, if at at possible.

Just do it (TM Nike).

Yes - I've been fortunate to see him play on several occasions. The ones that really stand out to me are the Wimbledon finals I saw as well as some WTF matches

Specifically
AO 2007, RG 2006, Wimbledon 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2012, WTF 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, Dubai 2015 (perhaps a few more as well)

Saw him in the Aussie 13 semi where he lost to Murray. We were sitting up in the gods.

Last year I ponied up for near front row seats for men's semis at Wimby and saw him play one of the best matches he has every played where, as you know, he beat Murray.

I also got to see him at a warm up session on an off day at the WTF where he was hitting with Edberg and he was larking around a bit.

I saw him last year at the USO when he beat gasquet. My first live tennis match ever and it was very enjoyable, albeit rather short.

saw him win the US Open for the last time in 2008 at the Arthur Ashe stadium beating a young Andy Murray in the final. He wore a red polo with khaki color shots. I didn't have great seats but what I saw it was phenomenal and well worth it!

Saw him at the WTF 2013 v Del Potro, incredible match and fed just brilliant to see in person... Also saw nadal at the WTF 2015 v ferrer, another good match and saw nadal practice up close in the morning

Multiple times at Cinci, IW, USO. You have to see him play in person to appreciate the greatness he brings. And this is coming from a Rafa fan (watching Rafa too BTW is an experience). These two top my list.

Love your profile picture. I hit with Aisam and Aqeel Khan a couple of years ago. They were in DC after USO had just finished and were in a training camp preparing for Pakistan's Davis Cup team :)

I saw him at Wimbledon last year against Simon, and I saw him play against Murray at the 2014 World Tour Finals, and against Wawrinka in the same tournament.

Three entries on my bucket list ticked off; See Roger on grass, see Roger destroy a top ten opponent, and see Roger come back from the brink.

...and the following day I managed to tick off a fourth entry that I didn't want or need; see Federer pull out of a match

Still, at least he came out on court to tell us all personally, and he rightly got praise from the crowd for having the guts to do that.

Seen him 5 times at Rogers Cup here in Canada. Hopefully seeing him at this year's USO if he does participate.

Holy smokes! Boy, am I jealous...

Out of curiousity: what matches did you attend at AO 2007, Wimbledon 2005/06/07 and WTF 2007?

Wow! R4, was that against Djokovic?

Must be pretty sick to have seen the entire SF against Björkman, the first set against Nadal in 2006 and the epic 2007 final. And of course the dismantling of Nadal in the Shanghai semi.

What's your best memory from all of those matches?

Montreal 2011, watched his public practices
WTF 2011, RR vs Tsonga
WTF 2011, RR vs Nadal

Out of those matches, I will never forget the 2011 RR match vs Nadal. The ambiance at the O2 was awesome, and the way Roger was playing that night, I will probably never see that kind of jaw dropping tennis ever again. Terrific stuff.
I do hope I will get to see him play at least another time before he hangs it up, but it's so tough to *time* your ticket and get to see him.

Out of that selection it's probably the '07 Wimbledon final because it was such a great and historic match. Both were playing extremely well and I had a great seat.

Cinncy a couple of times and hopefully this year.
It's a always a pleasure to witness the best players in any sports.
I can say I have seen Fed, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Peyton Manning, etc......

Still never seen him play in person. Hopefully at the WTF this year or Wimbledon next year. I'm a Nadal fan, but having now seen 3 of the other big 4 live, it would be a shame if I never got to see Federer.

Fed is 6-1 in finals when I am in the house.

Tournaments: Shanghai (TMC and M1000), Dubai, IW (of course), TO and MTL (forget yrs), Istanbul. Would have seen him at Wimbledon if Tsonga hadn't zoned for the last 3 sets.

Oh and I saw him demolish Muzza at the O2. That wasn't so good!
What are you talking about? That was my first Fed match of many at the O2. Epic beatdown!
The 6-3, 6-0 match vs. Rafa the year after was even more brutal... :D

OP, I've had the luxury to see him a bunch of times, close to 15 matches, at the WTF. And you really must go and see him, no other way around it. It's a completely different experience to the television.
