Yes I will include them all, as all except 2 meetings between them were Grand Slam finals. Is it now normal that Murray reached all of those finals in spite of the broken back but lost pretty much all the time to Djokovic because of the back?

When did Murray achieve 3 wins in HC Majors?

Djokovic is at least one league above Murray. If the Scot will end up with 7-8 if you decide to rely on the weak era argument and ignore his age, then I guess Novak will break the Slam record by that logic.
Looks like Murray joined Fed and Rafa as another player who never lost when being at his peak+healthy. Djoker though has been at his peak ever since 2007.

As for the thread, Murray is the favorite by many here, and i would say right fully so, but not wright Djokovic just yet. But he needs to get past by Tsonga and the Guru or Lucas first.

A lot of things would be on the table.

Important match for the race to the YE #1 ranking.

Djokovic going for his 3rd 3-Slam season which would tie the record, trying to extend the amazing recent dominance and seal another YE #1.

Murray going for his first ever multi-Slam season and trying to get close to becoming a world number 1 for the first time.

Considering all of this and the fact that they have given us good matches last two times they met at the US Open, yes. I would like to see that final.

Well, a player of the caliber of Murray can blitz through the weak era and make finals , but it is not enough against a 100% fully fit rival at his peak. Add to the fact that Murray avoided Federer / Nadal during these times mostly.

The overall major/olympics h2h , when both were healthy is 4-3.

Djokovic is currently league above Murray but Murray has a chance here to step up

For the word "avoid" to make sense, those players would need to be relevant and suffer a real upset earlier, but Federer and Nadal aren't really relevant recently in Majors, at least not when compared to Murray.

Not to mention your desperate cherry-picking of the matches, we actually went from HC discussion to overall Major H2H while squeezing the Olympics grass match in there as well? Wow. :D

Chance to step up? The gap is a colossal 9 Majors, what are you smoking?

Yes but only if murray actually puts up a fight.. would also love to see wawrinka and delpo in the final

At the end of the day we just want a entertaining epic final, murray has shown he isnt able to stick with novak in best of 5 but maybe that will change, they have had some great matches but too far and few between

Well, Fed was relevant in 2014/2015.. Fed beat Murray twice during that time..So, Murray did lose when he encountered mentally strong competitors not part of the weak era. So losing to Djokovic alone cannot be made a story , ignoring the fact that back surgeries destroy career most often.

Again let me remind you that Djoker was at 6 majors 2 years back.. he had a fantastic window when everything lined up and he has doubled his count in a short time... Murray is not much below Djokovic in terms of talent and ability. He can step up .

Djokovic's chance of winning against:

Del Potro 75%
Murray 80%
Wawrinka 90%
Nishikori 95%

He will be the favorite of course, and any one of those four can beat him. So, Djokovic has to be careful.

Pulling numbers out your ass I see

having murray and djokovic in the final is always my worst-case scenario. always.

i would amend that statement by saying that i wouldn't watch them if they met in the first round, either.

their matches, more than any other match-up, have come to epitomize everything that i dislike about the atp.

Murray-Djokovic is on par with Monfils-Simon in terms of the worst tennis match ups ever.

When former players, analysts and many fans share the same view , there has to be truth in it.

If there will be a Murray-Djokovic final, and there's probably a 90% chance at this point unless Delpo brings the thunder, I should probably start drafting my will.

you think?

i feel the same way about djokovic/murray matches as i do about cauliflower.

i don't mind cauliflower at all . . . so long as i never have to endure it myself. :)

I said no, but it'd probably result in good tennis, which I'm all for. I just want to see some new faces play some good tennis.

True. After countless episodes, I have started skipping watching live all their recent finals and it is the same story time after time.

Some of their fans keep saying it is a cat and mouse game, chess like strategy and all that.. but they know well that is a matter of endurance who wins the points in endless baseline rallies when both players are afraid to come to the net.

I pretty much never believe Murray can beat him, but deep down I have a feeling he can this time. That said, I don't want to see it because it's ugly stylistically.

i'm not hating on them. i felt the same way about fed/nadal matches (post peak-fed), too. you pretty much knew what you were in for days before you got it. every ball hit to fed's backhand.

murray/djokovic matches are marathons from way behind the baseline. for their fans, it's all good. but for a fan of the sport, and a neutral, it's just too much. i don't have that kind of patience. it's groundhog day.

their matches are a 'get out of jail free' card for me. a reason for me to turn the tv off and go out and enjoy the day. maybe go out for sunday brunch with some friends, have a few cocktails, have some laughs . . . so, it's all good.
