Murray is the better grass courter, and I don't think Djokovic really has a case in this discussion.

Grass does not support sliding. But Djokovic's volleys are showing a tremendous improvement. Djokovic will win at least one more W. Murray will become the best grass courter after Fed among Big 4.

Murray has won two important titles on grass, Wimbledon and OG. He's also beaten Novak twice in straight sets. He gets my vote.

FreeBird

The only thing on grass Djokovic really has over Murray is that he's beaten Nadal.

But Murray has beaten Grass Court GOAT. Though, Djokovic played horrible in Wimbledon final 2013 and should have done better, Murray is better grass court player than Djokovic atm.

We had this thread million times.
Why don't you find some old if you want to discuss it?
Murray is currently better, but it could easily change next year.
Grass is unpredictable surface.

Murray needed the Wimbledon officials to take Novak out.

We'll have to see.

Not to mention the Olympic Officials. That 5-0 record in sets is a skewed view.

We need to see a fair match between them where the officials haven't been bought before we can form a judgement on the question of who is the better grasscourter.

i originally voted for djoker but saw that murray has .800+ win mark on grass. andy even though that wimbledon was a fluke.

Yep. I mean, how could the only guy on the planet to have made semis or better in the preceding 4 years possibly win the event? That's just crazy talk.

Djokovic beat Nadal, which is a more impressive achievement than Murray beating Djokovic, but Djokovic lost to Murray, which is a worse loss than Murray losing to Federer.

Actually pretty even in terms of Wimbledon, but I give Murray the slight edge based on his better grass record overall (Olympics singles gold, Wimbledon semis, Queens, etc).

Murray has a better record on the surface and more achievements, and a positive record against Djokovic on the surface.

I don't see how you could vote for Nole, unless his one win over Nadal in 2011 is used to judge his entire grass resume and you don't look beyond that.

or maybe he had overwhelmng crowd support which i'm sure played no part.:) how did he do against fed last year w/o overwhelming support, when they don't call out during every point?

Against Federer he was also playing against a superior player to Djokovic, who had beaten him in the previous round as well. Losing to Federer, one of the greatest ever on the surface, means nothing when comparing him to Nole. You can't explain that loss as simply being because the crowd wasn't behind him enough.

How Wimbledon title was fluke ?.
Do you know what it takes to win 7 best of 5 set matches
on extremely unpredictable surface like grass?
can you do that?
every slam winner deserves respect , and also Andy is in
the. list.
save you gibberish. unpredictable? the surface was crappy this year, fed is old, nadal struggles with injuries and djoker is having a slump. not that this bothered murray who had a biased crowd yelling out every point to help him and unnerve his opponent. next year when he doesn't have that because ppl won't care anymore let's see how he does.

that wasn't my argument. my argument is the exact opposite. murray needed the crowd to win. fed,who is my favorite player, is past his prime and still hurting after losing the gold, the run he made last year was his last big one left. did you watch the match? they were yelling during the whole match(djoker-murray) of course it can affect the match.

Djokovic because he beat Nadal on grass which Murray has yet to do.

Any question about tennis has to be answered relative to Nadal.

Hmmm...don't recall the crowd all yelling for Murray at the 2012 US Open final yet he still came through and won that one. No doubt you're going to try to convince us that one was a 'fluke' as well?

Does it? Murray beat Federer on grass which Djokovic has yet to do!

Or are you going to try to tell us that Nadal is a greater grass player than Federer...lol??

nadal s a better player right now(last 3-5 years) than fed. it's like comparing 50 year old jordan to 27 yr old lebron.

the only fluke around here is you being able to post and breath all at the same time..

you should give up the latter..it's taking up vital oxygen that could be used by cockroaches.

Good to see the poll accurately reflects that Murray is clearly the better grass court player. Before Murray's Wimbledon win he was STILL the better grass court player, but it could be argued that Djoke was greater. Now there is no doubt Murray is not only better, but greater on grass too.

What, on grass?? Federer won a Wimbledon title last year and won Halle this year. Nadal last won a Wimbledon title 3 years ago and hasn't won a single match on grass anywhere since the 1st round of Wimbledon last year!

Nadal may be doing great on all the other surfaces but his grass game has evidently completely collapsed!

I was one of the clowns that insisted that Djokovic was better than Murray on grass despite many on this forum correctly saying the opposite. I learned my lesson after the Wimbledon final.

Andrew Barron Murray is the answer.

From 2008-2011 Nadal was hands down the best grass court player in the World overall, including Federer

2008 to 2011:

Federer- 1 Wimbledon title, 1 final loss to Nadal, 2 quarterfinal losses.
Nadal- 2 Wimbledon titles and 1 final loss in 3 appearances.
Djokovic- 1 Wimbledon title, 1 semifinal, 1 quarterfinal, 1 round round

Even if we extend back to 2007 and add an extra Wimbledon title for Federer and extra runner up for Nadal, Nadal would still clearly come out ahead with 2 titles and 2 finals in 4 Wimbledons for Nadal and 2 titles, 1 final, and 2 quarterfinals in 5 Wimbledons for Federer.

Since 2012 Nadal has been about the 50th best grass courter in the World though after being the best in the World the 4 or 5 year period before that. I cant explain it. Hopefully he changes that and returns to being the best grass court player in the World again. He certainly has the skill set to do so.

hush troll boy, adults are talking. sorry if i'm not excited about sheep boy winning on the only surface that's nearly exclusive to his region. not that many grasscourts in spain or switzerland, now are there?

overall he's a better player right now. in the last 5 years how many finals has nadal been in compared to fed? in the last 6 years fed has 2 titles, same as rafa, and rafa would have had 3 if not for the goat year of djoker. how many times did a healthy fed lose to the tsongas and berdychs of the world? at least nadal was injured coming into his losses. overall my boy fed is the best, but at 32 he is behind a prime nadal right now.

i doubt it. and how many home slams do djoker, fed and nadal have again?

Man with no argument in 'starts another argument' shocker.

What does the number of slams held by Roger and Rafa have to do with determining who is the better grasscouter between Nole and Murray?

overall Murray but honestly nole's 2011 level and 2013 level
against delpotro was much better than Murray .
we can say 2013 Murray at Wimbledon = 50 % of nole in 2011 and against delptro in SF mathematically!
but Murray have more grass titles so Murray

Murray beat 31 year old roger not 25 !
also he played 5 hr match with delpotro .
that was deciding factor.
so no reason to hype that victory.

So what? 31 year old Roger had just beaten both Djokovic and Murray a month earlier at Wimbledon and was having one of his best years on tour!

You need to start respecting Murray a little more and accept that he probably would have won that final even if Djokovic had had a bye against Del Potro. You conveniently forget that Murray had already beaten Djokovic in a Slam final!

so no reason to hype that victory.

No-one's hyping anything. Rather you neeed to stop downplaying it and making out it was all because of Djokovic and nothing to do with Murray!

Djokovic doesn't strike me as a good grass player. It surprises me that he did so well at Wimbledon the last couple of years result wise. On grass, I see him as someone who could potentially be Rosoled in the earlier rounds because of his not so agressive game, spinny balls, un-sampras-like serve and lack of a net game compared to players who specialize in it.

I said federer played 5 hr match in Olympic semis not nole.
I was not talking about Wimbledon but Olympic.
I don't remember federer winning any tournament after
such a epic match except RG 09 .
He is not nole , to win 5 hr semi and 6 hr final .
This guy simply greatest power saver ever.

or maybe you have bad reading skills? i wasn't bringing up how many slams they have(which if you were a decent reader you would have seen that!), i was bringing up the fact that murray does well on a surface that is only in his country/region. so he has that advantage and the guarantee of always playing on that surface in front of a home crowd. hence on a neutral crowd equals no 2013 wimbledon for murray.

Right after 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009!

OT: Murray is better than Djokovic on grass. I even said so before their Wimbledon final and predicted Murray's grass achievements would be better than Novak's when all is said and done.
