TGK 231.3 or TGK 260.1 or what? (Authenticity check)

Well here is a puzzle (for me at least)

I recently bought a Head Pro Stock which is or supposed to be a TGK 231.3. I got it in my hands with the intention to repaint it. Today I started taking out the paint. As it came as a hairpin I confirmed the sticker on the handle to write 231.3 which you may be able to see in this pic here

When I took of the paint at the bottom of the head of the racket this is what I found...

http://imageshack.com/a/img923/5371/J6c192.jpg

Clearly saying TGK 260.1.

Now anyone can tell me what is this racket?

Definitely this is not to blame the seller. He had provided a handle pic with the 231.3 which is exactly what i found.

Conjoined twins maybe? Or there is a possibility you could be that someone made an imitation of something valuable or important with the intention to deceive or defraud you. You be the judge. Caveat emptor!

Doubt it this is an effort to deceive me. I mean look at the sticker in the handle (and if it is not visible on the pic I can confirm it reads K 231.3 - the TG is very blur)...who on earth would go that extra miles to get $200.

On the other hand, the racket gives an idea of the mold its self which looks to be a connection of different parts...

Well, you will have an open pattern, won´t you, so it is a 231.3 (or 260.2). The sticker really seems ok. The really interesting thing is the 260.1. If it said 231.1 I could imagine that before drilling the pattern the base mould is the same but saying 260.1 to convert it into a 231.3 is strange as I thought these are slightly different moulds.
From the pics I have difficulties in saying whether is one or the other, also these are so similar and without paint...
here on TT there are some real HEAD expert, that also knwo somehow the production process. They might know.

You've got to be kidding. I was watching a video from numbersusa on immigration just the other day. There are a large number of people that make less than $2/day. For those people that's 3 months salary. Anyone of them would jump at the chance to double their salary and make an extra $4. That's one reason why there are so many counterfeit rackets.
EDIT: Good video, I'm not sure I can believe it 100% but I'm also sure there are millions and millions that need someone's help.

231 is box beamed and 260 is slightly profiled, from the pics it looks 260.x ?
Hard to see clearly from your pics.

The TGK231.x and 260.x are two very different molds. Both are TT.
I am still having hard time seeing the details, but from the last picture it appears to be the TGK231.x mold.
Also, the 231.3 is a 16x19, the 260.1 is a 18x20. Which one is it?

from one or two pictures of the whole frame, I would also dare to say it is a 231.3

It is a 16x19 pattern. It has grooves where the throat connect to the head, but it seems it is more profiled rather than box beamed....

And lastly it does write inside thehead 260.1

I could be mistaken, but all head frames have a code, so maybe the 260.1 code (youtek rad mp?) was for the paint job and the 231.3 is the frame. It looks like the youtek rad paint from what's left of it.

After the painted was complete it was strung today with ,y usual; setup of Ashaway Crossfire ZX @60/40lbs. At first when i received the IG prestige pro grommets, was unhappy with them (transparent and capped) but after swinging with it, I think i like it both aesthetically as well as its feel. Currently it is at 321.8gr / 306SW / 31.9cm balance. Will move to 340/319/31.4 respectively.

What I am most surprised and very pleased with the purchase is the flex. Although I don't have access to an RDC I used racquet tune's frame frequency tool. My Donnay P1 GT with an unstrung flex of 60 (circa 58 strung) reads 145Hz (strung). This one reads 123 strung!

Looks gorgeous. Any changes in static or swingweight after the paint changes?

There is no comparison because when i got the racquet it was a hairpin that weighted 294grams hence could not measure SW. However i believe that from removing the paint it lost some 20 grams. Because i weighted the racket after stringing and pallets/leather/overgrip at 320grams. If you add the strings(15)+palletsetc(30)=45. 320-45=275.

Nice work! The color reminds me of the Patty Schnyder's PT57E with i.X6 paint job!

Thanks.

There are two ngs imho when repainitng a racket. You can turn a hairpin to a significant,y lighter one because from my experience, companies use toooo much paint and tooo much primer. So once pajnted back you have trmendous room for customization.

The second lesson is that you only need to choose the color you like from the autoshop catalog. In a week it is delivered ready as new.

Now i look fwd to trying it tmrw in a match
