I have looked at many pictures, and they look white from every angle. Either they are painted or different strings. Here is another angle.

The trouble with the photography is the high contrast lighting, in exposing the photograph for their faces which are somewhat in shadow to look more natural the strings and other bright spots loose detail. This photo from the semifinal is a bit underexposed which allows more detail to be seen in the strings.

Plus the top pic in this thread clearly shows gut/alu rough. I can even see the texture on the Luxilon.

This picture is interesting as it seems to confirm what I spotted on TV in the semis... Roger's Wimbledon sticks now have a retail (looking) hologram sticker inside the throat!! I (may be completely wrong but) can't remember the last time he used a Wilson with the hologram. Not the white P1 date/tension sticker seen in another shot in this thread. It could be making a mountain from a molehill, but no hologram stickers have often been a tell-tale sign of recent Wilson prostocks.

Nothing painted. I'm pretty sure we'd notice paint job strings.

When people ask questions abut pro strings, ya'll realize they use the same strings that can be bought in stores right?
I've always been curious why people need to know what pros use. I'll bet Federer could whip the sh*t out of 99% of tennis players using a junior racquet off the shelf at Sport Authority. The gear they use won't make you an incredible tennis player.

Rough has less surface area to contact the mains because it has voids into the round profile. It has a different feel as well which may be his priority over SnapBack.

What strings were on Rogers racquet for the Wimbledon final? They looked all white on my TV.

Zoom in dude or get some glasses. The crosses are clearly silver. Same old Gut/ Alu Rough as always.
The mains stand out because they are lighter than the darker crosses.

If Fed wanted more snapback, he would not use stringsavers at some crosses in his stringbed. His habit of changing rackets every 7 games after ball changes, he shouldnt need stringsavers at all. Nobody seems to have an explanation for him using stringsavers. Very weird.

I believe Fed himself has stated it is just habitual.
There is a noticable difference with and without them.

Then he says that with the hybrid setup they thought it might be a good idea, if he has them from the very beginning (after the fresh stringjob), because maybe he could impart a bit more spin with them because of the angular profile (of the strings).

After Yu finished, he clipped ten tiny plastic string savers into the string bed of each racquet. Federer likes the string savers because they supposedly reduce friction. Yu, who estimates that he has strung racquets more than five thousand times for Federer, is skeptical. “I don’t think it does much,” he said. “But these guys don’t like to change things,” Ferguson added.
