As the title asks: Does the rivalry of Agassi and Sampras resemble Vegeta and Goku?

Quick points on Agassi:
  • Child prodigy who turned pro at 16 years old and was touted to be the greatest talent in tennis
  • Had great expectations placed on him to win multiple GS and be the number 1 player in the world
  • He was in the peak of his tennis career and still lost the US Open to Pete Sampras
  • That one loss took a great toll on him mentally and Sampras was firmly in his head
  • Every one knew that when Pete played his best, he was the better player
  • Was overshadowed by Pete during the majority of his career
  • Was not the best player of his generation
Quick points on Sampras:
  • Was not as charismatic as Agassi
  • He was not touted to be greater than Agassi and was not covered by the media from a young age
  • He proved himself to be the greater player and the better tennis player
  • Dominated all of his rivals and fulfilled the kind of expectations that were placed on Agassi
  • Best player of his generation
Quick points on Vegeta:
  • Prince of Saiyans who believed that he was the strongest person in the universe
  • Lost to Goku in their first battle and could not accept the loss mentally
  • Spent the rest of his life chasing the strength that Goku had but could never reach him as Goku improved as well
  • Every one knew that Goku, not Vegeta, was the stronger man
Quick points on Goku:
  • Never boasted about his strength unlike his rival
  • Defeated his rival numerous times and at times, made Vegeta look like he was nowhere near his class
  • Succeeded in all the areas where his rival failed
  • Continued to grow and was never complacent
