Today I heard NY senator Chuck Schumer make a pandering speech calling for equal pay for the men's and women's national teams. "They sacrifice just as much, work just as hard..." Funny, he didn't mention that they achieve much better results than the men.
There must be somebody at the WTA who can help make that happen.

Obviously the men would win a head to head game, I'm not implying that.
But relative to success in their respective sport, there is no comparison.

The best women's leagues are not domestic I don't believe. Sort of like the MLS with America.
If they were domestic sure, I'd go to a few.
I don't go to MLS games either.

Nothing you've said refutes my point the USWNT have been markedly more successful than the men's product.
I'm not looking at the financials because I don't get a piece of either pie so why would I care?
My original comment was showing them how it's done in terms of getting results.
World Cup finalist in 2011, Olympic Gold in 2012, World Cup Champions in 2015, heavy favorites to win it in 2019.
USMNT have not been exciting since 2014 World Cup.

Megan Rapinoe is quickly becoming a very unlikable figure in this WC.

They've had some unlikable figures past and present unfortunately. Rapinoe has always been polarizing. Solo was always controversial. Wambach.
They've got a lot of classy athletes on the pitch too though. Just have to focus on them.
I think they're entitled to some cockiness though they've been the best team by a wide margin the past decade.
That said the celebrating was really dumb. All it does it add fuel to your more capable opponents like France/Germany etc.
Definitely agree the celebrating was way over the top.
Don't have any problem with laying 13 on em though. Goal differential group stage you might as well guarantee yourself good GD.

Yeah end of the day, it's not really that big a deal. They're an experienced bunch and they'll be ready for any opponent I'd imagine.
It's kind of a no-win situation because if you don't pour it on and show them mercy people might take that as disrespect too. Can't please everyone like anything else in life.
That said I'm definitely excited to see USA go up against some of the other heavyweights. Won't have to wait long with Sweden in their group.

I kind of think it would have been more disrespectful to have played at less than full throttle once the lead was insurmountable. You are saying the opponent can't hang. That said, there are situations in other sports where it would be considered a slap in the face, like stealing a base when up by ten in baseball.

It's up to the opponent to stop the celebrating... play better defense, or score your own goals.
Blow outs happen all the time in international competitions...basketball, hockey have all had huge overmatches. Nobody complained about Rusdian hockey dominance or US basketball Dream Team blow outs. And l think there was a wee bit of celebration with those teams.
Non issue for the coach too. Go get `em girls!

i'm discovering that i enjoy watching women's soccer SOO much more than men's. they're less theatrical with all the flopping and overall less violent. it's annoying to watch these grown men who are paid hundreds of millions whine and fake and showboat. with women's soccer it's just soccer and it's a joy to watch.
