It was the worst final of a Grand Slam he ever played, even worse than in his infamous match against Wawrinka.
it is what it is. i was less disappointed seeing him lose that way than seeing the near 6 hour brutal loss in the 2012 final. At least he didn't get a bagel or a breadstick served to him. He's served joker a couple breadsticks in slam finals. lol

Rafa was clearly not 100% at the AO this year. I was very surprised when he wasn’t running down balls he ALWAYS runs down. That was the case not only on the final, but the entire tournament.
Exactly, as Rafa said he couldn't practice his defense after ankle surgery, so all he could do was attack.
Rafa attacked Djokovic in the 2010 and 2013 US Open Finals, but it was after constructing the point and playing defense, so without defense he had no chance of winning the AO.
Folks got tricked when they saw him destroy Tsitsipas.....but Tsitsipas is no golden retriever, so Rafa's mobility issues were hidden :)

He wouldn't do it if he didnt, but still.
I see it as only a positive.

1. He is not going to get hurt or tired playing a few light matches where he won't even be playing as intense as normal.

2. Stays fresh and engaged with match play.

3. Enjoys LC and team events with camaraderie

4. Good PR

5. Knows he will get favors from Fed in return

6. Makes @Lleytonstation happy to see.

I've been watching LC since 7am this morning starting with Thiem and Shapovalov match. Enjoying it immensely. Also just saw Rafa with taped wrist and he didn't divulge much.

Honestly, I am happy with him just cheering others and healing his wrist and body. Just his presence alone is enough. I am sure if RBA steps in he can win over any of the Team World guys too.

I feel like a traitor, lol. I should be rooting for Team World but screw that. Maybe if they stopped behaving like a bunch of frat boys I might consider. No but seriously, have zero feeling of being torn between the two teams or anything like that. Team Europe all the way!

Rafa was aked about the tape on his wrist (from 0:44 in the video below):

I heard that on the broadcast I was listening to as well, but he really didnt say much. If you look at the photos of him practicing yesterday (above in this thread), his wrist was not wrapped, so it might be a new injury.
Hopefully it's slight. But then why wrap it?

It better not be acting up again lol. It took months to heal
