The Round Robin Groups for WTF will be set Tuesday November 5th. Any withdrawal after this will bring in the first alternate, presumably Roberto Bautista Agut into Nadal's spot at the top of one of the groups. Nadal just withdrew from Paris yesterday so he faces a decision in less than three days from his injury.:sneaky:

Rafa will have decided by then. Now he could play a match or two and then withdrawal. But I think it won't have an affect in the end.

He is likely to give it a go, but if it continues to be painful he will withdrawal. Question is, if he knows he might withdrawal, should he not play at all? Or will he have a "you never know" thought about it?

Man, and he had all the help in the world with Fedr w/d from Paris to clear Nadl's path to secure YE#1. Now, Nadl may not even be able to play WTF, making it even easier for Djokr to snatch YE#1.

Nadl is ruining my planzzz to get Fedr to #1 after AO20 :happydevil:.

Had to laugh at the "RBA being in Djokovic's group so he may retain #1" option. You're dynamite Meles! :p
Djokovic is showing up to play events and meeting commitments. Fed's behavior lately has been diabolical with withdrawals. Time to see what Nadal will do. I suspect he'll want to show up and play one match and retire to cash in the money. If its by the rules its ok, no?:sneaky:

Djokovic, Medvedev, Tsitsipas and Agut in group 1

Fed, Thiem, Zverev and Berretini in group 2...

Let us hope god can make this happen...

And imagine Nadal retaining the No 1 even without playing YEC...

So how exactly is Nadal's NOT playing helping his no 1 cause...?

Because Agut and Medvedev "own" Djokovic with a 15-1 H2H?

This thread is sillier than a Bond film produced by Broccoli's deranged offspring...

Lol. This plan includes every other top 10 player other than Federer withdraw from AO I suppose?

It was just a bit of fun :p.

But it was definitely possible (would've been much better if Nadl beat Djokr at Bercy (or Djokr lost before finals)). Fedr defends 180pts at AO, while Djokr/Nadl defends 2000/1200. In the most extreme case, it's a 3020-3820pts swing. I know that's not likely, but that's a lot of room for error.

Well showing up and then withdrawing before the first round 100% guarantees RBA will not be in Djoko's group. They're last three hard court matches and this is played on hard courts last I checked:
12/2019 R16 Miami Masters Hard Roberto Bautista Agut Novak Djokovic 1-6 7-5 6-3
1/2019 SF Doha Hard Roberto Bautista Agut Novak Djokovic 3-6 7-6(6) 6-4
40/2016 SF Shanghai Masters Hard Roberto Bautista Agut Novak Djokovic 6-4 6-4

You don't bet much do you.;)

That would be a bad look. Imagine if Djoker and fed get drawn in the same group and then Rafa bounces.
Its darn near what you want him to do. :sneaky:

How can he know 5-6 days before he plays if this is even remotely borderline? He may pull the trigger in greed Tuesday and have to pull out before the first match.

Think he will play at least one match no matter what. I want Fed to win it, then Rafa, so no, I don't want that.

It is an disaster, a outrage and an scandal that you get away with the fact that you can support whole generations, when we, the decent folk, have to make do with one or two favourites. I mean how convenient it is to be able to just jump on the latest bandwagon!

If Novak and Agut played at WTF I'd bet on Novak, of course.

What has Agut done recently?

Besides, even if Agut did beat him, Novak is highly unlikely to lose the other two hence he'd reach the semis then reach the finale.
